@latsot @coccinellanovem I completely agree that facilities for disabled people should not become the default for trans people. It's bad enough with able-bodied people nipping in them. (I know their abled by the sheepish looks & apologies as they come out & find me waiting, in my wheelchair).

We've entered the stage we knew was coming; organisations are reluctantly beginning to obey the law by saying that men mustn't use women's spaces. That's great! But they're also saying that literally everyone should be able to use accessible spaces instead. That is: Female spaces for females, great! Male spaces for males, great! But accessible spaces for whomever wants to use then, regardless of whether they need them. Not great. Not great at all. I really hope that sex realists, gender criticals and TERFs will back disabled people in our fight to protect accessible spaces from the same narcissistic perverts we've been trying to keep out of women's spaces for all these years.

It's great that PureGym is obeying the law and it's great news for women, but a terrible policy for disabled people. They've clearly done what disabled people have been warning about all along: they've given away the accessible changing room to anyone who wants to use it. And who wouldn't prefer to change in a single-occupancy room? Disabled people who have no choice but to use the accessible room have been screwed. We'll see this more and more. Screwing disabled people is the cheapest and easiest way to placate gender identity ideology idiots. Nobody will care. Nobody will come to our defence.
Women's Rights Network - WRN@WomensRightsNet

Top marks to @PureGym for a very clear, concise, changing rooms policy. “We provide a range of changing facilities for our users. We provide in all gyms: 1. a. separate-sex communal changing rooms (based on biological sex); and b. an individual use, accessible, gender-neutral changing room. 2. The separate-sex communal changing rooms are designated for use by individuals according to their biological sex.” And that’s it. Something for everyone. Well done Pure Gym for not making it any more complicated than it needed to be.

@DaroDarai @WomenReadWomen He claimed to use a specilum, but hadn't. There was no informed consent. He also touched patients intimately inappropriately. Those are both sexual assault.

A doctor who admitted to removing the ovaries of two women in Guernsey without their consent will be allowed to continue practicing. Gynaecologist Dr Ali Shokouh-Amiri also faced more than 100 allegations of inappropriate behaviour, with 24 instances proven, but has been deemed fit to continue working in healthcare. A Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel has found dozens of allegations proven - ranging from over-familiarity with patients' surgical issues and clinical errors. One patient told the hearing in Manchester the removal of her left ovary without her consent "had ruined her life". Another patient, who believed Dr Shokouh-Amiri deliberately removed her ovaries, said it had brought on the menopause prematurely. The gynaecologist has been working as a consultant at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust since November 2022. The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service ruled he had "shown good insight into his failures" and had put in place "procedures and actions to address his failings to ensure they do not happen again".

🤬I can't stand this. Elderly women are so vulnerable to sexual assault by male caretakers & male employees in their care homes. Male workers should not be alone with incapacitated female patients. The worst part is that there are undoubtedly far more victims than we know about.

The last time I walked along this street, I was leaving the brothel I’d been trafficked to. Visiting the site today made me realise that the brothels were just bricks and mortar, the monsters were the men inside.

When are you planning to actually tell the truth about the sexual abuse industry instead of pretending this industry is somehow normal and acceptable? Is it because your prime readership of wealthy, middle aged white men might be offended by that?

@existentialgoof @dmclellan2024 An inability to do everything is not a justification to do nothing. Most reasonable people would accept that giving a wheelchair user an access ramp is an earlier priority in increasing agency than suggesting AD

This is why many disabled people are rightly concerned about Assisted Dying. If AD is funded and available but a wheelchair ramp isn’t, what does that say about the attitudes towards disabled people?

If you want to support survivors of sexual exploitation, prostitution and sex trafficking - please stop using the term ‘sex worker’. The term was coined in 1978 by a pimp lobby mouthpiece who was pro ‘child prostitution’. Don’t normalise an abusive industry of paid rape.

⚠️🚨VOYEURISM AT DORSET LEISURE CENTRE – "AN UNSAFE PLACE" 👉A family has described BH Live Active Littledown as "an unsafe place" after an voyeurism incident in the swimming pool's mixed-sex "changing village". A mother and her infant daughter were in a cubicle when a phone was reportedly held over the top, filming them while undressed. The suspect had already left when the mother went out to confront them. Family say staff initially refused to help and told them to contact police themselves. Staff later called police after being told a baby was also involved. The family say they were left "distressed" and will not return. Dorset Police confirmed the incident and are investigating. No arrests have been made. 👉This comes after multiple voyeurism crimes in "mixed sex changing villages" across the UK

NC: VH with hindsight appeared quite shocked by the implications of the policy, particularly re the open showers. And yet nobody in 2017 took any thought at all for the real effect on women of a policy generated by activism of orgs like Stonewall and GIRES.

Ruth Maguire (SNP), who is stepping down as an MSP due to a cancer diagnosis: “I find it really hard to put into words the impact that the language of dignity and compassion being used to talk about ending life has had on me—as if somehow wishing to carry on but with help is undignified and burdensome, unfair to people who love me… “My blood runs cold thinking about sitting in a room in a hospital and having a doctor raise that with me as we weigh up treatment options… “If it weighs so heavily on me, someone in a position of financial privilege, with a large loving family who are able to care for each other—indeed, someone whose job it’s been for 10 years to have difficult conversations… I want colleagues to see how this all plays out for people who don’t have the privilege that we have. “And in doing so, let’s have our eyes open to the strain our health and social care systems are under.”
