@CFIB As a CPA who supports small business in Canada, my heart had been racing since this announcement. If they had just given a 0.5% tax break on our marginal tax rates everyone would have benefitted & CRA would feel the pain of this “tax holiday”

To the many thousands of people who keep posting that CFIB is making up the challenges for retailers to implement the GST/HST holiday, let me know whether a wrapped gift basket including a coffee mug, a box of chocolates and packaged snack foods is taxable or not during the holiday. It is priced as one item. Here's the CRA guidance to help: canada.ca/en/services/ta… Now tell me what to charge on accessories for a PS5? How about special paint for a model plane? How about a children's book with a few stickers in the back? Still think it is just pressing a button? Imagine if you ran a store with 3,500 items and had to ensure your system and staff properly charged the tax on each one until 9 pm, Dec 13, but then didn't charge the tax at 9 am, Dec 14. And this was your busiest season when you and your staff of 5 people are working flat out. And you need to do this all in the next 10 days.

Hey yall. Does anyone use an outside service to summarize old stock brokerage statements to help come up with the original basis? Client has statements dating back to 1985 and I don’t want to spend my time figuring this out if I don’t have to. Any suggestions? #TaxTwitter

@CanRevAgency It’s not just secondary units that we need assistance with. We need to integrate the generations rather than having them separate. They may not be able to live on their own. That means we need to renovate for accessibility for our parents and grandparents.

(1 of 2) The concerns of #HaltonON have been heard: the Federal Court has decided the federal government’s approval of CN’s truck-rail hub in #MiltonON was flawed & unreasonable. CN’s project cannot now proceed without going back to the federal government for reconsideration.

@CFIB Of course an extention will be helpful to businesses. But is it right to continue to kick the can down the road? My clients have worked hard to keep to their budget/cashflow to repay their loans.

ATTN SMALL BIZ OWNERS (PLEASE TAKE ACTION): Let's try this one more time! CFIB has updated its #CEBA petition and is calling on govt to move the Jan. 18, 2024 forgivable deadline to Dec. 31, 2024. If this would help your business, please sign our petition here: cfib.ca/cebapetition. Small business owners need more time to repay the $40K loan in order to protect the $20K forgivable portion. An 18 day extension is just not good enough. I urge you to share this petition and encourage all small business owners to call their MPs.

@CanRevAgency I wish it was less painful to help small businesses! There are still so many who don’t have online access and supporting them as a CPA is very difficult.

@CalebLJenkins @TiffanyCPA Thank you, and no, I've been keeping it quiet, but now the deal is done and the transition is complete. The hardest part was transferring all of the QBO companies.
