The article closes with “if we have money to spend on NHS staff, doctors are not at the front of the queue”. To that I simply leave this graph. Pay us fairly, or we keep leaving. It’s really as simple as that. Doctors are highly trained professionals, and should be paid as such

"We were there, but who is there for us?". @DrSarahHal and Mike Kemp, JDC co-chairs, introduce conference recognising the massive and ongoing personal impact of COVID on junior doctors across the UK. Now it's time for that sacrifice to be recognised. #JDConf22

"the system was already breaking apart at the seams [before covid]..." @DrSarahHal & Mike Kemp - excellent co-chairs of @BMA_JuniorDocs - remind #JDConf22 of the persistent @TheBMA lobbying of UK govt & health bodies, but the massive issues that our NHS & workforce are facing.

Imagine there was a pot of money to spend on the trainee doctors in your trust. Can't be spent on salaries or services. Must be spent in the next month. What would you buy?

Really struggled with a pain clinic session yesterday. It was on the benefits and barriers to work, and we were meant to discuss ways we could mitigate the barriers with pain management tools. Instead I just spent the session seething and sobbing. 1/

All change for the next set. Goodbye delicate florals, hello Anglo-Saxon metalwork. Inspired by the Staffordshire Hoard. The garnets are made out of piping gel, which is a mixture of golden syrup & a setting agent. @samuel_a_jones ate them all. Biscuit flavour: chocolate. (6/?)

I am reliably informed that today is #NationalBiscuitDay. Here is a 🧵 of all the biscuits I've made so far in 2021. First up, my William Morris set. Inspired by an old @V_and_A calendar, everything hand-piped in royal icing. Flavour: cardamom, orange & vanilla.

You know how art historians can sometimes say exactly which year a portrait was painted based on specific detail? Junior doctor, 2021 (Pictured with 9 months of hair regrowth after COVID alopecia)

It's Workers Memorial Day. >600 health & social care staff have died from covid. youtu.be/sKeLR7gtzOs We are disproportionately exposed & scandalously underprotected. Especially true of BME staff. We are still wearing PPE they downgraded from WHO standards in March last year.

@silv24 So glad you are feeling better. One of the most powerful writing on the subject of burnout, suggested the substitution of the word for "workplace exploitation". Not always the whole story but it sure does shift the picture!

I am returning to work tomorrow after 3 weeks off with burnout. I am nervous but I’m starting to feel positive again about myself after months of feeling really negative. I couldn’t have done this without the love and support of so many people.

Up early on my day of annual leave, to try for the 4th working day in a row of trying to get a gp appointment in the 8am rush, my practice don't offer routine appointments I can book ahead any more. Is this normal now?
