Um, no we weren't, bro. Prior to the war, Iran did not have a nuclear weapon and had not made the political decision to pursue one. That's not me saying that, it's all 18 US intelligence agencies, including the ODNI in her sworn testimony before Congress. If we're going to conduct US foreign policy based on shit that happened 47 years ago (that the CIA facilitated), then we might as well call it a day.

That set the tone, and the long train of abuses over the years would tell a rational person that a reckoning was inevitable. We were always headed here.
