The feminist liberal is able to make a more accurate critique about the essential problems with the movie contrary to all the chuds complaining about the most absurd details This is why nobody takes chuds seriously because it's dripping of resentment and nothing else

Emily Wilson, whose translation of The Odyssey is itself unfaithful, critiques Christopher Nolan’s adaptation for emphasizing Odysseus’ “shame” over heroic “glory,” calling it a modern psychiatric revision of the character. Follow: @AFpost

Just saw the odyssey and it is actually pretty good. Its compelling for a modern audience and flows well. Chuds will never be satisfied (read the book if you want source material perfection lol). I did think the Helen of troy casting was super bad but that's my only complaint.

Everybody hates Asmongold’s girlfriend, but for very different reasons… Hasan hates her because he wants that to be him. His haters hate her because they can’t as easily call Asmon a Nazi incel… And other people like Myron Gains hates her because Asmongold has turned into a simp and is washing dishes… 🤣🤣🤣

Nietzsche said a lot of contradictory stuff but one of his most consistent ideas is that archaic western culture used to value brute strength for its own sake but Judeo-Christianity inverted the relationship between strength and goodness and encouraged the strong to feel guilt and pity for the weak. He revered Homer's Odysseus much more than a contemporary Christian priest. So it's funny that Nolan made The Odyssey kinda Christian—accentuating the main character's guilt, trauma—and then many Christian conservatives, who decided that they were going to hate the movie because it had a Black actress in the wrong role, instead have to twist themselves into the pretzel of arguing that making the Odyssey Christian is "woke" and they just really wanted to see a movie and hero that properly embodied the very same archaic and anti-Christian values that in any other context they would consider abhorrent.
Matt Walsh@MattWalshBlog

Just saw The Odyssey. Despite what you may have heard, literally all of the criticisms by conservatives were entirely correct. The movie is just as woke as you fear, if not more so. The DEI casting is atrocious. Completely takes you out of the story right from the beginning. But even worse than that is Nolan’s decision to turn Odysseus into an anachronistic whiney, solemn shell of a man plagued by “trauma” and guilt. It’s impossible to overlook these flaws because the film itself is not terribly entertaining or well constructed. For the most part it is disjointed, dull, self-serious, disenchanted, somehow feeling both verbose and overly rushed at the same time. The dialogue is some of the worst I’ve ever heard in a “critically acclaimed” film. “On the nose” and “clunky” are descriptions that can’t even begin to describe this script. At no point in the story does Nolan ever transport the audience to the ancient world. You never feel like you’re 3,000 years in the past. You feel like you’re watching modern Americans put on a pageant, because you are. Nobody would be calling this thing a masterpiece if it was made by a director not named Christopher Nolan.

Nick Fuentes lays out the winning Republican message for 2028 "We're going to end the foreign wars. We're going to defund Israel... unlike the Democrats, we're not going to have t*аnnies and we're not going to have open borders. You know what that's called? America First."

Overall I thought The Odyssey was an extremely good movie. Another Nolan banger that can't help but make its way into the cultural consciousness due to its out-of-distribution quality and thoughtfulness compared to the other slops and flops coming out this year. He also subverts the Odyssey in a way that significantly elevates the story. Notably, Odysseus is remorseful over Troy. Having violated the traditional order of the gods — abusing the law of Zeus with the Trojan horse — he might as well have destroyed the entire Mediterranean coast he knew, the sea peoples having borrowed his ways. Civilization will collapse, because scheming and treacherous men like Odysseus have adulterated tradition. I like that the movie leans into the scheming, treacherous Odysseus rather than the brave, heroic, macho Odysseus. And the motif carries through the movie in new and old ways. Early on, when Telemachus is learning to fight with the sword, Mentor tells him to expose himself, giving him a chance at a successful attack. Something he learned from Odysseus. Scheming to blind Polyphemus. Obscuring the truth from his crew to avoid Charybdis. Returning to Ithaca in disguise. Feigning his inability to string the bow at first. Again and again we see Odysseus as the manipulator, not the conqueror. And what are the results of his scheming? His own home corrupted under Zeus's law. His guilt making him unable to return to Penelope — opting to forget instead. His men all dead. Years added to his voyage. Haunted by the face of Athena, an innocent woman killed in Troy. In the end, he's forced to violate Zeus's law one more time, and for it he must face exile away from Telemachus, the son he will never truly know. The movie focuses inward, on Odysseus's internal struggles, and the story becomes far more impactful in ways virtually no other "Greek epic / mythology" film ever has. Yes, it has creatures and beings and fantastical elements, but the heroic mysticism is largely done away with. One could rightfully interpret Nolan's Odyssey much more as a spiritual movie than one of heroic adventure.
