@WorkElizab 10% absolutely. 20% fine but 40% tip? The service would need to have been exceptional to warrant that. Really? You expect - ~$38 for writing a few things down and carrying 4 dishes and glasses to the table. Nice work if you can get it.

Would you entertain any of these as the potential United Ireland flag?

The Unite the Kingdom rally has managed to provoke the prime minister into a public argument with Tommy Robinson and declare that the native population have no special claim to Britain above foreigners. He literally says that Britain belongs to "all".
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.

@lorraineelizab6 The idea for Gulliver lying like a giant there was supposed to be inspired by the view of cave hill above Belfast. Swift used to ride there when he lived in Carrickfergus. The outline of the hill resembles a sleeping giant and today is called “Napoleon’s Nose”

Lilliput is reputedly named after the townland Lilliput (Nure) on the shores of Lough Ennell near Dysart, just a few miles from Mullingar, in Co. Westmeath. Swift was a regular visitor to the Rochfort family at Gaulstown House. On the lake people looked small from the far side!

When you stop and think about it, assisted dying's a bit like salted caramel ice cream or shuffle dancing, because they're choices, too. Or Lynx Africa body spray - use it, don't use it, nobody else's business.
Genevieve Holl-Allen@genevieve_holl

Kim Leadbeater MP has just likened the legalisation of assisted dying to legalising gay marriage On Sky News: 'It is a choice, it's a bit like gay marriage isn't it? Marry who you want to marry, love who you want to love. It's nothing to do with anybody else'

@RGeirsson In at least One of the medieval Icelandic sagas Norwegian characters refer to Icelanders as something like “sausage munchers” - in a derogatory sense

@elonmusk If you read the actual medieval tales of Robin Hood you find he did a lot of robbing from the rich, especially the Church, and kept it. There was no giving to the poor. Today he’d be called a gangster

A bizarre moment from the Sheffield Jew Hunt tonight. This man says he is going to report us for "racism and anti-Semitism". He then comes over to us and becomes aggressive though we have maintained a distance. Suddenly he spots the tiny Star of David pin I am wearing in support of Jewish people and becomes incensed and says "that's a fascist flag!" He had told us he was Jewish. He is wearing a Keffiyeh and talking about liberation of Palestine. The old people are not alright.
