@oilersdailyy I won't guarantee that Cassidy is not the next Oilers coach, but I challenge his fit with the leadership group. I'm not convinced Knoblauch is going anywhere. My take us that he will strengthen his assistant coaches. If KK does get replaced, I suspect it would be Laviolette.

@JasonGregor I have said this many times. The Oilers could have Broduer, Hasek, Roy, Price, or any other HOF goaltender and the goalie would just be ordinary in an Oiler net. Until the team decides to play solid d, it won't matter. They have shown they can, but not consistently.

"Unless they start defending better, I'm not sure there is a goalie on the market who will play succeed. Yes they could have gotten more saves, but they still gave up too many good looks in the regular season and playoffs. Edmonton wants to win so the pressure is different, than Vladar going to Philly, where making the playoffs was a success," Woodley on Oilers off-season goaltending strategy.

@Kgill39 This Oilers team was not built to go far. Horrid PK all year, no structure. No commitment to play team d. Imo, the room was not cohesive. McDavid said it best, they were an average team. Give it a couple weeks for emotions to subside, then look at the team from top to bottom.

Honestly, it seemed like the team was only focusing on getting back to the Stanley Cup Finals. They cared about it so bad that they forgot they had a season where they could have fun, build a new identity and aim for a different goal (Win the division) AND then focus on the playoffs

@THambey22 @barstoolsports The room must have definitive evidence the puck completely crossed the line. There was no evidence, thus the call on the ice stands. The issue is that the on ice officials called it a goal and not one of them was in a position to see it cross. Is it over the line, most likely.

@barstoolsports Wouldn’t have mattered what the call on the ice was. The situation room determined the puck had completely crossed the line and would have overturned a no goal call on the ice. The game was over no matter what the refs had originally called, however oilers fans see it 🤷🏼‍♂️

John Garrett worked with 42 play by play men. I was honoured to be 25. I started hosting @EdmontonOilers games in 1998 on A Channel. John was the analyst. Lots of learning and lots of laughs. He said we were the 'other' team that wasnt on the ice. I'll miss my teamate. RIP Cheech

@92In82 If a person does not believe McDavid is todays best hockey player, they are either completely biased or do not know hockey. Thats playoffs, regular season, and international games.

How anyone can say McDavid is overrated and is not a playoff performer when… 1. McDavid leads the NHL in points, Art Ross and Hart trophies and playoff points since he’s entered the league 2. He’s the first player in over 20 years to win the Conn Smythe on the losing team 3. He’s the third player in NHL history to score 40 points in a postseason 4. He’s the 4th fastest player in NHL history to 1,000 points and was only 3 games away from being tied for 3rd 5. Hockey is literally a team sport He is literally a generational player and will likely go down as a top-5 player of all time when it’s done. This isn’t a representation of #NYR fans.

@NHL_Sid Why do you think it is coaches? You think he is telling them to just flip picks out. He isn’t. He said they sat back too much and played to safe for final 40. Coach can’t force them to make plays on the ice.

A fantastic first period propels Edmonton to a win, but the red flags remain. Just eight shot attempts at 5-on-5 in the second and third periods combined, and breakouts continue to be quite poor. The coaching staff has yet to learn.

@ChrisFisk14 You blame Skinner for the Penguins losing? Skinner has been the Penguins best player. Short of him going and scoring goals, what would you like him to do?

Best move Bowman did all year was to dump Skinner, doesn’t matter what he got back! Dumped a loser (lost tonight consequently) #oilers #win

@Kgill39 I hope you have had some time to review the play and realize that there was no call to make. Lacombe won that hit. He and Hyman will see a lot of each other before this is over.

@mcclxskey Jim Rutherford!!. Only because of his ability to completely destroy the Canucks in such a short period of time and I'm not a Leafs fan. Just kidding. The next GM has his hands full. Decide if it's a retooling or rebuilding? What to do about coaching staff Rebuild the prospects.

@SirPhsychoSexy @oilersdailyy The disrespect is due to people trying to place blame and focusing on one person only. They cannot grasp the fact he was one part of a broken play. Goaltending is the most visible part of the game. Its easy to critize without watching the entire play leading up to the goal.

@Kgill39 Both teams got exactly what they wanted and hoped for. Savoie added cap flexibility and has developed into an everyday player. McLeod continued his strong play and has become a good 3rd line center. Good hockey trade for both teams.

@pearlosnhlpow Agreed. Aquilini was voted one of the most meddlesome owners in sports. The team doesnt have its own private practice and medical facility. They are ranked 15th in prospect pool. As an experienced GM why would you take that mess on? If you are a new GM, why risk your future?

@mcclxskey As the new GM, I would need to ask myself a question, am I retooling or rebuilding? If I'm retooling, yes, I make that trade. If Im rebuilding, no. The 5th overall pick has about a 64% chance of being a good long term player.

@rangerbob94 So Bowman fires Knoblauch and hires Cassidy as the 8th Oilers coach since 2014/15. Cassidy wears out his welcome in a year or 2, who do the Oilers hire then? Cassidy is a smart hockey guy, but, is he the right guy for the Oilers? Personality and style must fit.

@oilers49er Change for the sake of change is a sign of desperation. How many more coaches can they go through? Knoblauch is the 7th coach since 2014-15 season. He has taken the Oilers to 2 straight Cup finals. When the players decide to play their system, the Oilers are a winning team.

Matt Savoie now has 14 points in his last 17 games and is defining himself as a star winger on McDavid’s wing I think it’s safe to say that Edmonton won the McLeod trade

@JasonGregor @Tan976 I do not disagree with your take. Lazar at 61% fow is a better RH option than any other RH Oiler. I had read a statement that the Oilers have a 24-5-5 record with Lazar in the lineup. Though that is not fact checked. I hope the coaching staff finds a way to use him regularly.

@TimIngram12 @Tan976 I'd be a bit surprised because he doesn't play C as often as the others. He did take draws as a RW, but with Hyman, Roslovic, Kapanen and Frederic as RW, it will be hard for him to be a regular.
