@BenjiNaesen I thought that Sam Watson might be the Ineos foil for Ganna as a fast finisher that can cope with slopes. Understand going for Ben Swift, but think it's a race that could suit Watson in the future.

It's unlikely but I wouldn't mind seeing Joshua Tarling show up on the #MilanoSanremo startlist last-minute.

@WillIam87uk Farmers do pay tax. Only 4% pay IHT and until this budget, which has hit all family businesses generally on redundant assets not on assets required for their own means of income. Let's hope your ancestors remember you backed the food price inflation & lack of security from this

Know-it-alls in the media have been saying that farmers should have to pay inheritance tax just like everyone else does on a house. They're missing just one tiny detail, says Philip Leith: a farm is nothing like a house. dailysceptic.org/2024/11/21/no-…

@ChrisGiles_ @NemoSalus @CutMyTaxUK Renting out 'a' house is unlikely to be your sole source of income. You are inheriting a redundant asset, while a farm is a working asset - you are already working on it. If you can't see the difference, I think you must have skipping school completely!

Nonsense - I can rent out a house as a business - it can be owned as a business venture. That venture is taxed not at 20% but 40% every generation with much smaller tax free allowances. I am not so rude to ask whether you got an education. I would just note that mine was clearly better than yours

I hope agricultural land owners will enjoy their sightseeing trip to the capital… …they will, I am sure, realise that areas that pay a lot of inheritance tax can function pretty well

@NemoSalus @ChrisGiles_ @CutMyTaxUK Yep, inheriting a property is such a poor equivalency. Those that inherit a farm are inheriting the business they already work in and have paid into, not additional wealth on top of the salary they already have. If they sell, they pay Capital Gaind tax.

@ChrisGiles_ @NemoSalus @CutMyTaxUK A house is not a business! Did you get an education? Why not tax all businesses 20% of their asset value every 30years or so, not just family businesses? Think of the value of all that real estate in cities.

@ChrisGiles_ @CutMyTaxUK The removal of UK farm land shows the failure of a systems approach to Co2 reduction. UK farming is one of the most efficient food producers with near zero Co2 balance.

@ChrisGiles_ @CutMyTaxUK Those causing the rise in value will be unaffected, infact it helps them. The land taken from farming families will continue to be brought by bankers using their million£ bonuses to buy a country house and 20acres, corporations for Greenwashing and overseas investors.

@ChrisGiles_ Lots of London is owned by Estates & overseas investors that pay Zero IHT and will continue to do so. 2/3 of property is brought by overseas investors, so IHT isn't working. Wealthy land owners in the Countryside will also be exempt using complex Trusts & Corporate ownership.

@Johnmccorry55Mc @Britain_People @johnmcternan Subsidies were brought in to lower food prices, which now make up a smaller % of peoples weekly spend than historically. It was part of the same post-war social policies that created the NHS.

🔴DESTROY FARMERS This is absolutely outrageous from former Tony Blair political advisor @johnmcternan: “We can do to the farmers what Thatcher did to the miners. It’s an industry we could do without. We don’t need small farmers.” Did you vote for this❓ #NoFarmsNoFood

@godofdogs @ChrisGiles_ @neiljeffares If people don't want farms to be passed on, then the price of food needs to increase to make it a viable proposition. If family farmers' net household income is £22k but under £20k taking off reinvested £s that's a 5x increase just in wages on food prices to match a train driver.

@godofdogs @ChrisGiles_ @neiljeffares It's amazing how many bright people don't understand the economics of farming. Food prices are kept low, so most farmers net less than minimum wage, but in lieu of this, they get stewardship of the land to pass on to the next generation.

@ChrisGiles_ @neiljeffares If a Farm is valued at £2million on paper the farmer wouldn't get £2million if he sold it - Capital Gains tax/ plus all the costs involved, it certainly wouldn't be enough to create generational wealth particularly once what's left is split across households involved in the farm

@ChrisGiles_ @neiljeffares Do you are basically saying food production should stop because the agricultural value of land (money made from farming) is very small & high risk, with high setup costs (Equipment), compared to the asset value due to development value etc?

@Silverbullet130 @BladeoftheS Fair enough then food prices shouldn't be kept artificially low so farmers can be paid at an hourly wage levels equivalent to 'everyone else' as costs income is below minimum wage when average household income is about £22k but hours are far in excess of 40hpw.

@BladeoftheS The NHS has £23billion in assets, the National Trust £1.7 billion, so they are obviously very rich and rather than receive money should they sell assets to pay taxes to the government because they are so asset rich?

@jdtlgr @benonwine They outright lied about what you would do in power during the election. Strangely, you can't do that to sell a product as it's fraud, but it seems fine to gain control of a country.

I just watched Surviving October 7th. It's on BBC2 right now. It is harrowing, I cried for 90 minutes. Every anti-Israel protestor should watch it before they go on the ext stupid march. #SurvivingOctober7th
