Enjoyed Kemi’s quip about free breakfast clubs being a defining legacy of this Labour government. When the Tories deride breakfast clubs, it shows how out of touch they still are. A £450 saving is a lot for working families. Easing the morning rush makes a big difference.

When I say every child should have the opportunity to go as far as their talent takes them, I mean every single child. Children who grew up in poverty, with special educational needs, those who can't get a job. With most Labour MPs despising you and willing to grant you, at most, a civilised stepping down over some months, you say you’ll be in power for a decade. Labour MPs’ worst nightmare. You commission a propaganda film of you, Brown, Rachel Reeves and Harriet Harman looking smug and self-satisfied in the Downing Street garden, complete with meaningful music. How divorced from public opinion can you be? You signal you’re fresh out of new blood (Brown? Harman?) and new ideas (getting close to the EU is the best you can come up with — hardly a game changer). You think a ‘reset’ speech (again!) can turn things round? You’re truly delusional. @lal537 Yep. Exactly the same. Dropped off -was in for 116 seconds- forgot ( not avoided or evaded) to pay the charge and got a PCN for £60. Daylight robbery at #manchesterairport.

As these tough election results come in, we thank and pay tribute to our councillors who have served their communities brilliantly for many years. The last thing the British people need now is Labour turning inward and losing focus on them. Keir Starmer won a huge mandate less than two years ago. Now we must get on with delivering change faster for the British people.

These have been a very difficult set of elections. I’ve felt that in Sunderland. But the answer is not to turn inwards. It’s to take responsibility, come together & face up to the challenges ahead. Keir has won before, he can win again. We need to deliver change, not chaos.

These are tough election results for Labour and I’m sorry to all of those colleagues who have lost their seats. Keir Starmer won a mandate to change our country. We must get on with delivering that mandate - and show how politics can improve people’s lives for the better.
