@DarrigoMelanie Well, maybe. What's your plan to determine which are "eligible"? Maybe some form of ID using birth certificates????

If the SAVE America Act was a voter ID bill, that 83% of Americans support, it would provide every eligible voter with a voter ID… … but it doesn’t — it only prevents eligible voters from voting. They don’t want voter ID, they want voter suppression.
John Kennedy@SenJohnKennedy

Sen. Schumer and the rest of my Democratic colleagues should drop all their gauzy rhetoric about showing an ID to vote being “racist” or “sexist.” Nobody believes them. Voter ID is prudent, and 83% of voters say so.

@EDkhan99 @PolitiBunny I don't think adults have any excuses when it comes to finding basic documents proving citizenship. That is common sense.

For shits and giggles, I decided to see just how hard it would be to replace my birth certificate, Social Security card, AND my marriage license, since Democrats think women are too stupid to figure it out. Here's how it went: 1. Birth certificate: Contacted the health department of the county where I was born. They OVERNIGHTED a certified copy to me the next day - total cost, $14. 2. SS Card: Contacted Social Security on their site. They asked if I was sure I needed the card, since I 'won't likely be asked for it.' I went ahead and got it - took five business days to arrive - total cost, $0. 3. Marriage License: Went to the 'vital docs' site of the county where we were hitched. Filled everything out online, arrived in three days - total cost, $5. It cost less than $20 to obtain all three certified/legal documents, and it took less than five business days to receive them. Note: if I had lived where I was born or married, it would have been a day. Tops. Anyone telling you this is too hard or unfair is lying and hiding the real reason they want to stop Voter ID. I know you guys knew that already... lol

@TimLillie @existentialgoof @igrantubc to do something then ban or heavily restrict highly effective and reliable methods and means to do that. Imagine if they did the same for abortion.

"concluding you have a right to be left alone to kill yourself is different from saying you have a right to be helped by others — and in this case, by the NHS. Waxing lyrical about freedom does not give us an adequate defence of the “help” bit." archive.ph/Yc6rz

@TimLillie @existentialgoof @igrantubc Sodium Nitrite in Canada. In Idaho that might be irrelevant because anybody can just purchase a gun in the parking lot of a Walmart without needing a background check and the state has laws that explicitly ban red flag laws.

@EDkhan99 @PolitiBunny By your logic no one would dare to suggest that anyone except a tiny few ever disobey traffic laws. After all: where's your evidence that traffic cops or even parking regulations are necessary? Look for yourself at all the people driving legally right now!!!

And what makes you think that non-citzens vote? Got any data to back that up? Have you seen the findings of the far right Heritage Foundation? The cases over the past four elections are tiny, minscule, as in a decimal point followed by a bunch of zeros compared to the total amount of votes cast (that includes citizens that voted for Trump twice in the same election). Now try to use some common sense. Millions of eligible voters don't vote (about 80 million in the last election). If you are an illegal immigrant why would you vote and risk automatic deportation after all the crap you went through just to get here just to vote? What's the risk vs reward? Might as well put a target on your back. Would YOU be THAT stupid?

That's nice. You are one person. It took my friend here in Missouri SIX months to get his birth certificate from New York. If a woman didn't get her name changed in divorce court, it can cost up to $400 in fees to get it changed. ANY costs can be restrictive to low income families barely getting by month to month.

Yo Einstein none of that matters if you’re a married woman, your birth certificate will prevent you from voting since it has your birth name on it, and not your married name. Anyone can get a duplicate Social Security card, but it has to have your original birth name on it. I suggest you educate yourself

@PolitiBunny So…it cost you money. If someone needs to get these docs in order to vote Thats a poll tax. So essentially you proved the save act is unconstitutional.

I went to DMV on Friday. I brought with me: Social Security Card Marriage License Divorce Decree Driver’s License Current Utility Bills in my name & address They told me they would send it all in, but they believed my marriage license was not sufficient. UMMM the courts thought it was because I got a DIVORCE DECREE. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦‍♀️

@existentialgoof @igrantubc Again with wanting government to ensure your death wishes. What are "humane" suicide methods, exactly? If the government protects such methods that's government-licenced death, whatever they are. Just admit you want death on demand by a government agency.

Maybe read your bill? The accepted forms of ID to vote under the SAVE Act: 1. Enhanced REAL ID: Only available in 5 states. Costs up to $50 (poll tax) and requires a birth certificate which 40M Americans lack access to. 2. Valid passport: 146M Americans do not have and costs at least $130 (poll tax). Trump gutted the agencies issuing them. 3. U.S. military ID card presented with military record of service. 4. Government-issued photo ID showing place of birth: 300M Americans do not have one, and costs up to $50 (poll tax). 5. Non-Enhanced REAL ID driver’s license, state ID, or tribal ID shown in conjunction with a birth certificate (40M lack access to) that matches your last name (which 69M women do not have due to marriage) and other forms of documentation, and which require a cost to obtain (poll tax). If this was truly a voter ID bill, it would provide every eligible voter in the U.S. a voter ID, and provide them at no cost to align with the 24th Amendment — so why doesn’t your bill do that if voter ID is so popular?
