@1984_nate TULIPS always sprout up and look nice and pretty for a short while, but they all wither and die. Jesus Christ (who IS the Word of God) lives forever. Some people need to trust in Christ, not Calvin. Blessings to all.

Jesus' reasoning for speaking in parables should, for the Bible believer anyway, be plenty of reason to dismiss Calvinism as a false theology. Calvinism states that man is born totally depraved, dead in sin, and cannot and will not believe unless God first regenerates them. 1/

We are to "imitate God as His Children" (Eph 5:1) To "have the same mind as Christ" (Phi 2:5) We are "being transformed into His image (1 Cor 3:18) We are to "walk as Jesus walked" (1 John 2:6) All of those things (plus many, many more) would make us go against His very own Word which would be blasphemy. Some people make God out to contradict His own Word. If that were true we could never believe Him. Geez.

It’s not anthropomorphizing God to receive the revelation of himself he’s been giving from the beginning.
DutchCalvinist@aDutchCalvinist

@rootcausesleuth If I killed you it would be an injustice. If God ceased to sustain your existence or struck you with lightning, there is no injustice. He owns you and can do as He pleases with His own creation. “If its unjust for me to do it, God cant either”, is just anthropomorphizing God

When someone believes that a person is "justified" by works in the sense that they receive eternal life by works, then I must ask........ Since this is the MOST IMPORTANT THING in a person's life (eternal life), what specific works must be done? How much, how many, what exactly must I do to "earn God's grace"? The problem with that false view is that it contradicts so many other verses that say we're saved by believing. If someone can't tell me specifically what works I need to do, then I'm just going to believe what Jesus said, not what the traditions of men say. The words of Jesus are spirit and life.....not the words of man. John 3:16, 5:24, 1 John 5:1 Instead of copying and pasting the traditions of men, I wish people would reconcile the Word of God because everything is in perfect harmony. Soooooooo, I'm going with Jesus on this one. Blessings to all.

Again, context. We are JUSTIFIED by faith before God. We are JUSTIFIED by our works BEFORE others. It is UNPROFITABLE to not be a disciple. Our works contribute zero to our salvation, otherwise we could boast.

Uncle Owen@uncleowenlars

@EllaFlash Context of the verse is that James literally said you're not saved by faith alone. "A person is justified by works" James 2:24. How much more clear does he need to make it for you? This is so abundantly clear that Martin Luther called James an epistle of straw and hated it.

Poor guy isn't quoting scripture. Nowhere in scripture does it say we are "predestined to believe". Sorry. But scripture DOES say we are predestined... to be conformed to the image of the Son. It DOES say we are predestined... to adoption as sons. It DOES say we are predestined... to an inheritance IN CHRIST. It's all about Christ.

Thanks for your post Caleb. But one must ask regarding the verses you posted... What specifically is the "goal" Paul is pressing towards? What specifically does it mean to "hold our original conviction firmly to the end" Also, what "end" is the author referring to? (the "end" of this age? the "end" of our lives? the "end" when God makes all things new?) What specifically do we have to do to persevere? How much? How long? What specifically does a believer need to do? The reason I ask these questions is that eternal life is the most important thing in a person's life. I think we can agree on that. But if you can't tell someone what specifically must be done in order to "have" or "maintain" eternal life, then that doesn't make sense. That would be very subjective. But Jesus is specific about our eternal salvation/final destination. We are born of God and have eternal life the moment we believe. (John 3:16, 5:24, 1 John 5:1) Those verses specifically speak of being born of God and eternal life. Since that is true and nowhere in scripture does it say we can lose the eternal life we already have in Christ or that we are no longer a child of God... the burden of proof is on the person who goes against what Jesus declares. I'm not trying to be mean at all, just saying that there's a difference between our "position" of being a child of God (having eternal life) and our "experience" in our Christian walk that will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ (not the Great White Throne). Blessings to you and yours.

Good Post @rootcausesleuth God certainly CAN do what He wants, but He never will because that would be unjust and unrighteous. Ever. God is clearly just and righteous (2 Tim 4:8, Psa 1:5-6, Psa 7:11, Psa 9:4, Psa 9:8, Psa 9:16, Psa 19:9, Psa 37:13, Psa 50:6, and so many more) He will not go against His own Word, or who could ever trust in Him or what He says? Blessings.

The righteous understand justice fully. Even a child knows it’s not justice to punish someone for something you determined them to do.
DutchCalvinist@aDutchCalvinist

@rootcausesleuth The perfect, Holy, infinite Creator of all things has the right to determine a creature do something and hold him responsible at the same time. Anyone who cant grasp this concept in my opinion has not deeply enough considered the creator/creature distinction between us and God.

That's sad. My son got into some bad stuff as well, but we kept praying. Kept sowing seed. I can honestly say he is done with that stuff now and has a wonderful relationship with the Lord. What you said about that woman and her son is what is wrong with Calvinism. Geez. What is his name? We'll pray for him because prayer works!!!!

@1984_nate I am a sister of a Calvinist woman who has had her heart broken over her son getting into drugs. She has decided he was pre-determined to do this, and that he is not one of the elect, and she has washed her hands of him all together as her way of coping.

@EllaFlash Good post, Pamela. If I might add... Nearly all of the verses in both letters to the Corinthians are spoken to BELIEVERS. That's where many people mess up and start mixing eternal salvation verses with discipleship verses. Blessings...

That's the rub, right... We are supposed to be imitators of God and walk in love as Christ loved. (Eph 5:1-2) Those two verses (and others) would be impossible to do if you think God only loves the "elect". We can't even know every single person who has eternal life. And most calvinists (not all) don't even know if they have eternal life themselves or not. That's why we love all. After all, love never fails.

Good Post. They'll also refer to a bunch of man-made books. Talk about man-centered. Oh, the natural man who loves natural things. Christianity is a Spirit-filled life, not a man-filled life. We won't be judged based on man's words, but rather the Lord's.... which are spirit and life. For some...... that's an "Uh Oh".

It's mind-boggling that any calvinist can post such an absurd assertion, when the precise number of the elect, as well as the precise number of the reprobate, were set in stone before the world began?

Funny no one has ever taken a picture of the edge. NOBODY. MANY planes have flown over. Flat Earth was debunked years ago. Permits are easy to get and hundreds of thousands of tourists go there every year. So many scientists. So many people are visiting Antarctica and NO ONE has seen the edge. Antarctica has been extensively explored, crossed by numerous expeditions, and circumnavigated by ships and aircraft, with no evidence of an edge or an impassable barrier other than its naturally extreme climate. All the hundreds of thousands of pictures available since they began taking pictures show the earth is a sphere. Oh wait, every single person who has ever taken a picture is in on the conspiracy... including satellite imagery, and the recent pictures from various rockets GPS, and SpaceX. When someone can take a picture of the edge of the flat earth, I'll believe it. Until then, we'll have to look at the hundreds of thousands of images that have been faked.

Dude. I am not going to start this argument with you now, just because 99% of this discussion has good counterarguments, until I enlighten you to understand it. But there is more land. The wall is beyond Antarctica. To reach that land, you need to cross Antarctica. You can not cross Antarctica clearly because of the treaty. You need a permit. If you say you will cross antartica they will not give you that permit. Get it? So technically, it is banned because you will never get that permit approved. Unless you say you are just going to the beginning of Antarctica to take pictures of the ice. Which many have done. But no one went beyond.

🚨 THE SKY OVER NYC JUST DID SOMETHING IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO DO - AND IT'S NOT NATURAL That is not a normal cloud pattern. That is a perfectly straight atmospheric wall cutting Manhattan in half like a switch was flipped. One side clear. One side sealed. No gradient. No curve. No randomness. And the comments are already spiraling: “Defense shield.” “They're blocking the eclipse.” “Something turned on.” They'll try to call it weather. But be honest, have you EVER seen the sky form a clean boundary line like that over an entire city? What just happened?

Thanks for the info. There is no treaty that bans people from going to Antarctica. The Antarctic Treaty of 1959 actually designates the continent for peaceful, scientific use and allows for tourism. However, access is strictly regulated, not banned; all visitors must have permits from their home country to ensure environmental protection and safety. Wonder why no one has gone to take a picture of the "edge"?

No one is allowed there. There is an international treaty. Litrally the only thing all goverments agree on is not letting us to antartica. For the plane that claimed to fly over just track his plane radar on flight tracker. He went halfway and turned immideate right. Creating a L in his direction. Not straight thru.

Just curious why no one has ever taken a picture of the "edge" of the supposed flat earth. If this earth is flat, there has to be an edge, right? No pictures from anyone? No pictures of the flat earth from above? I'm open to the idea, just no proof of it. None. Nadda. Zilch. All someone would have to do is just fly over it and take a picture. Oh wait, many people have flown over that area.

Yes, of course He gives us the freedom to believe. Otherwise, that wouldn't be true love for our "marriage" with Him, it would be forceful control. And would be a monstrous act to those He predetermined to burn in hell without the opportunity otherwise. When we believe, it's the beginning of an endless love story. Glory to God.

The Bible never claims people are in the image of Satan. It makes perfect sense for God to love sinners based on Him making man in His image and based on the character traits which God uses to describe Himself.
Jared Moore@jaredhmoore

It makes no logical sense that God would love sinners. Sinners image Satan. And sin mars God’s image in sinners. The only good in us came from God, and all the sin came from us in rebellion against Him. God’s grace, His redemption in Christ, by His Holy Spirit, is truly amazing.

We were crucified with Christ and raised with Christ. We are alive in Christ. Complete in Christ. All spiritual blessings are in Christ. We are joined to Christ spiritually. Do not look at yourself apart from Christ. Always see yourself joined to Him. It's like the vine and the branch. We are branches. Certainly, He hears our prayers because that's when we're closest to Him. By faith, see yourself joined to Him in oneness because on our own, we can do nothing in the same way a branch can't do anything apart from the vine. Our oneness with Him is an intimate, spiritual union between Christ and those who believe in Him, in which He is the Source of life and everything spiritual. It’s both corporate, as in the “Body of Christ” and the “Church,” and also personal to you and me as individuals. Blessings to you.

@TimOlney10 I must be misunderstanding. You aren’t actually saying that God won’t hear our petition for healing? A wife praying for her husband’s sobriety and ability to lead the family spiritually will be ignored by our Almighty? I’m still a sinner and Christ transforms my heart daily.

God doesn't improve or change anyone. Why would He try to improve that which cannot be improved upon? Flesh will always be flesh. Spirit will always be spirit. John 3:6 What He did was put us on the cross with His Son so that we died with Him. We were crucified with Christ. Death is the gateway to LIFE. We died, and our life is hidden in Christ. Then, get this, He raised us up with Christ so that we would walk in the newness of life IN CHRIST, not in ourselves. Rom 6:3-6, 7:4, Col 3:1-3, Gal 2:20 and many more When a believer understands this and reckons it so, that believer, by faith, no longer sees himself, but rather looks to Christ for everything. Everything is IN CHRIST, not in yourself. See yourself in Christ because your tomb is empty. Glory to God. Blessings to all.
