@gtjco I had a car by the second year I immigrated to NYC. Now of course it wasn’t a new car, but it got the job done. Which was transporting construction materials throughout the city. Democrats want to bring us back to the Dark Ages for their purity tests or whatever.

Note: Due to overnight roadwork on Springfield Blvd, there are detours on Q27, Q36, Q88 buses. Q27, Q36, Q88 buses run via 217 St in both directions between Hillside and Jamaica Avs.

These nice people have a kid. Even though they are not exactly financially secure -- they live with a guy in their "den" paying half the rent. Because having a kid (one surmises, because they have a kid) is important to them. They didn't wait until we have childcare for all, guaranteed three-bedroom apartments in Park Slope for all, guaranteed grad degrees from Harvard for all, etc. They just had their kid. Conversely, the rollout of pre-K over the past decade didn't coincide with more people in NYC having kids or more kids ... because if having a kid wasn't important to the potential kid-havers already, the extra incentive didn't make the difference. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

What's funny is @gershkuntzman, editor in chief of @StreetsblogNYC, came to an Arrow Linen rezoning hearing in 2024 and told everyone he was being priced out of Windsor Terrace and was moving to Ridgewood. He made $167K in 2024, plus benefits. He's still here.

@gtjco I don’t even recall the last time NYC built any new roads. Maybe like almost 10 years ago on the new Kosciuszko Bridge. On the other hand, NYC is exceptional at closing and destroying roads.

@gtjco At a certain point, working just sucks. The past few weeks, I just don’t find much joy in the work…hell today I had awful food poisoning symptoms the whole day.

DOT is no longer about transportation, they are about crippling transportation, at least PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION. Don't hear them complaining about Uber + Lyft, or Amazon trucks parked in the middle of the street for mobile distribution centers, but private cars, different story!

My bus passengers stared me at like I had two heads when I requested them to move to the back…so I could let on a passenger with a wheelchair. Shouldn’t have taken more than two minutes to let them on…but really I was there for almost ten. So many uncooperative “adults”
