@NYC_DOT @nick_benson Again, this is an A/B question when the should be a C option of No Thanks! How about securing our streets instead of securing the bikes. Secure streets with bike racks are far more efficient!

@LeVeauNY @TransAlt @bfurnas A paid Transalt employee was counted among the 4 along with a crazy homeless guy who called himself "the king" as he rode his bike with two attached wagons through the crowd repeatedly.

After a protected bike lane is installed, fewer people are killed and injured while biking, walking, and driving. In New York City, we've seen that traffic deaths and serious injuries decline by: 18% for everyone 29% for pedestrians 39% for senior pedestrians

@TransAlt Gee. Why didn't they use the picture of the people opposed to the wildly unpopular redesign?

The community came out in the hundreds to oppose the Trans Alt-DOT proposed 2-way bike freeway on 72 Street that will endanger pedestrians, children, seniors and the disabled. Local businesses know that their ability to run their businesses will be greatly affected as they will not be able to receive hundreds of deliveries that come everyday. E-bike injuries in 2025 doubled over 2024. E-bikes are unregulated, and riders are unlicensed and uninsured. Yet the DOT doesn’t really care. Lyft, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Citibike are in the driver’s seat! @GaleBrewerNYC How irresponsible this rogue DOT is! @AFineBlogger @infopobn @KathyHochul @KathyHochul @infopobn @Mike94663851870 @nyc_evsa @JeniferRajkumar @BobHoldenNYC @MicahLasher @AlexBores @bradhoylman @Shebbie4nyc

Nearly 150 residents rallied on Saturday, asking the city to put the brakes on bike lanes being considered for West 72nd Street, citing potential problems for pedestrians, the elderly and residents in general. amny.com/nyc-transit/up…

As an example...to justify their @CentralPark_NYC redesign, they offered "statistics" to show that the number of pedestrians that had to wait 10 seconds to cross the Park Drive dropped by 8% on weekdays, and 6% on weekends. The problem- @NYC_DOT cooked the survey. The "BEFORE" numbers were all taken in AUGUST, when the "AFTER" numbers were in OCTOBER and DECEMBER!!! Gee, when do you think the park is more crowded? Duh! Never trust DOT self-reported stats!

Propagandists frequently rely on questionable statistics to base an argument, and they will repeat them over and over (Trumpy?). In this case these are "self-reported" DOT stats that are not peer reviewed. We know from experience that they are not to be trusted. We know from @nyc_evsa and NYC emergency rooms that pedestrian injuries are vastly underreported.

These numbers are "self-reported" by the @NYC_DOT . They are not peer reviewed, and they do not break out two-way bike lanes, which are inherently more dangerous. We also know that the vast majority of e-bike crashes involving pedestrians are vastly underreported, even when serious. Just ask the emergency rooms, a story that the media has just picked up on. P.S. The DOT has a habit of massaging their stats to justify their actions.

📢 Tomorrow, we’re hosting a press conference outside our office to share our findings on air pollution in the South Bronx — and what congestion pricing is actually doing to our air. In partnership with Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, we analyzed a full year of air quality data from 19 community-managed monitors — before and after congestion pricing launched in January 2025. What we found is troubling: monitors near major expressways showed significant increases in fine particulate matter — the tiny particles linked to asthma and other illnesses. We’re bringing this data to the table to start an evidence-based conversation — and to call on the MTA to work with us on real solutions. 📆 Tuesday, May 5 🕑10am-12pm 📍Location SE Corner of Lincoln Ave & Bruckner Blvd

Multiple synagogues and private homes in Queens were vandalized overnight with swastikas and other antisemitic graffiti. @Lynn4NYC, @PhilWongNYC and I are at one of the sites, Congregation Machane Chodosh, in Forest Hills now. When rabbis and congregants arrived to pray this morning, they expected to be met with their usual loving community. When a family woke up, they were prepared to begin an otherwise normal week. Instead, they were met with terrifying signals of hatred and threats of violence. We have visited some of these locations and are in contact with the NYPD, which is investigating and searching for at least four individuals responsible for the terrible incidents. The graffiti will be removed once the investigation is complete. With antisemitism on the rise here and across the globe, we will always stand up for our Jewish community and fight back against hate.

@partners_road The number 'on the market' means nothing without context. Is that high/low/avg compared to pre-Mamdani? What's happening to selling prices? For all you're telling us, 1,532 listings >$4m may be a ten-year low in availability.

Hochul: “They’ll never leave.” Mamdani: “They’ll never leave.” In NYC, there are 1,532 luxury units priced at $4 million and above actively on the market, with 86 new listings added just last week (Apr 25 – May 1). They’re leaving.

Three out of the four people in this photo SUPPORT the 72nd Street safety project. Members of @NYC_SafeStreets know firsthand what it's like to lose someone to a traffic crash, and they're fighting FOR critical, commonsense projects like 72nd Street.

I’ve been working with @NYCMayor since he was campaigning to create the Office of Deed Theft Prevention, and now, it’s a reality. @NYCMayor and I will continue to use every lever of power within City Hall to keep New Yorkers in their homes, and finally bring an end to Black displacement.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

For far too long, City government has stood idly by while New York homeowners fall victim to criminal deed theft schemes.   Those days are over. We're creating the City's first Office of Deed Theft Prevention. If you think you or someone you know may be a victim of deed theft, visit nyc.gov/deedfraud for support now.
