The competition between some (not all) of the @BBCr4today presenters to see who can be rudest and smart-arsest with government ministers (though rarely Farage and Co) might be one of the reasons they are losing so many listeners. @patmcfaddenmp did well there not to say “if it’s so f-ing easy why don’t you give it a go one day Amol?” Also wonder whether the “morning ministerial round” has had its day. Pat better than most at covering all issues but often such a waste of time to have Minister for X answering Qs on issues ABCD and E (usually what’s big in the right wing rags) followed by one Q on the thing they actually know about.

Steve Borthwick afterwards mentioned the confusion around this knock-on. Fin Smith kicked the ball away, having been told England had a penalty advantage, right as Nika Amashukeli said it was just a knock-on (after a call from the TMO) and that advantage was over. Led to Bielle-Biarrey's fourth (!) try. "I think that World Rugby needs to look at that kind of situation. You can't have the players playing with certain knowledge and then it taken away from them."

@timatkin @HeTalksRugby As soon as I saw it was him I said to my wife, we’re not going to win this. Our performance nearly proved me wrong, but Nika did his best to make sure.

We’ve been brilliant but where on earth is the consistency in referees in our games? France collapse a maul that was rumbling to the line & just a pen, we do it & it’s a penalty try with a man in the bin. Make it make sense!!
