This isn't just bigoted. It's also intellectually bankrupt. Kruger is literally saying Christians should have rights of worship not afforded to followers of other faiths. Then claims for followers of those faiths to ask for equity is an act of "dominance".
Danny Kruger@danny__kruger

Nick Timothy and Nigel Farage are right, and Sadiq Khan and Keir Starmer are wrong. Small groups of people, of whatever religion, praying in public places is fine. And as a Christian country we should allow a special privilege for churches to lead services in our national spaces, like the Palm Sunday celebration that happens in Trafalgar Square. What we don't want is mass ritual observances intended to claim the civic realm for another religion, or assert the domination of another culture over our own Christian traditions. What happens in our national spaces is not neutral. People use Trafalgar Square, for celebrations and demonstrations, to make a point about the kind of country they want us to be. The Palm Sunday pageant reminds us of who we are - not as individuals (many or most of us don't identify as Christians at all) but as a national community, with the roots of our institutions in the ground of the Bible and our most solemn communal moments, from coronations to funerals, mediated through the liturgies of the Church. A mass Adhan held there, or in any town square, is making a different point: that Britain is not a Christian country, and that - inshallah - one day it shall be Muslim. This is unacceptable to the British public and indeed incompatible with our constitution. As ever with these debates, the issue is partly one of kind and partly one of degree. There is an issue with Islam itself as a religion which in most interpretations does not admit of pluralism or freedom of conscience, and therefore is inherently aggrandising, including over territory. But with a bit of confidence and a bit of toleration we could handle that - if it were not for the issue of degree. It is the scale of Islam in Britain, and the ambition of its leaders for greater scale, that makes the problem. The numbers of people who assembled for the adhan in Trafalgar Square, clearly and openly claiming the territory for a faith with no connection (indeed, with strong doctrinal disagreement) with the model of Western liberal democracy that Britain has developed and exported to the world - that is the problem. The numbers, whether everyone there understood it this way or not (and I suspect many did), convey an explicit threat to the foundations of our country. Being relaxed about other people's religion is a good thing, a very British thing. I don't mind modern druids dancing around Stonehenge in my constituency (arguably, though the historicity is tenuous, they have a claim to the place). I don't mind small groups of Hindus or Buddhists or Muslims demonstrating the reality of Britain's religious toleration by worshiping in Trafalgar Square. But let's not kid ourselves about this adhan, or pretend that we're just seeing another harmless expression of Britain's religious diversity. We are seeing an abuse of liberalism, led by people who are not themselves liberal; or - let us imagine they are acting in good faith - who are themselves deceived about what they are doing. It should not happen again. And it would be good to hear the Church of England say so.

‘Judeo-Christian values’ is such a tell. Who, in Britain, has ever casually dropped ‘Judeo-Christian values’ into any conversation *ever*? This is Farage channeling Bannon. It’s MAGA. Dressing it up as English nationalism is pure pantomime. They’ll have Mother Goose next
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

What we witnessed in London at the historic Trafalgar Square, in a country built on Judeo-Christian values, was a group of people attempting dominance over our capital city and our culture. We are not going to surrender everything that was built over centuries and defended at great cost in two world wars for us to be a free, independent nation. The British people will not put up with this any longer — simple as.

The Tories’ ludicrous position on energy was exposed on #bbcqt. Harriet Baldwin argued drilling more oil and gas in the North Sea improves “energy security”. Fiona Bruce challenged her: “If North Sea gas is sold on the international market, how does drilling more make the UK more secure?” Baldwin had no answer … bc there isn’t one. The Tories sold off our oil and gas instead of managing it like Norway. Then Brexit took the UK out of the European Union Internal Energy Market and doubled down on gas priced on global markets. Now they claim drilling more gas we don’t control will make us secure. ❌ It won’t.

Lady in brown, "I think a lot of the Tories who defected to the Reform UK party were always perhaps racist and wanted to push an agenda that was disgusting frankly, but they've just found a party they could do it with" "I honestly think the general consensus particularly amongst young people is that we've lost our humanitarianism" "And the only party that is showing any semblance of that are The Greens" "We're so fixated on the economy, wealth, on so many other things, we're neglecting the fact that we are all humans" "And we are not looking after one another" "Labour, Tories, Reform UK, none of you offer security to young people who are exasperated" "The state of the world and how we are treating each other"

I once landed at Narsarsuaq and wondered why a tiny place had a runway fit for a superpower. The answer? During WWII it was a major US base where 10,000 aircraft stopped en route to Europe. America has always been able to use Greenland for security. It doesn’t need to own it 🧵

Fluoride does not cause IQ loss at the tiny doses in water or toothpaste. Why is this incredibly basic concept just absolutely beyond the intellectual capability of the freakin HEALTH SECRETARY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

This is horrific inversion of history from AIDS denialist RFK Jr. AZT was the first effective treatment for HIV which was a death sentence at the time. It went on to save millions of lives as part of combination therapy. It has since been replaced by better, safer therapies.

2025: Liz Truss criticising Keir Starmer over the release of Alaa Abd El-Fattah 2022: Liz Truss as Foreign Secretary trying to secure the release of Alaa Abd El-Fattah I'm no fan of Keir Starmer who conflates public safety with antisemitism, or conflated non violent protest with terrorism, but the cheek of Liz Truss criticising Starmer for doing what she tried to do, utterly absurd

Roald Dahl on Measles: Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything. 'Are you feeling all right?' I asked her. 'I feel all sleepy,' she said. In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead. The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was...in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her. On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunised against measles. ...I dedicated two of my books to Olivia, the first was ‘James and the Giant Peach’. That was when she was still alive. The second was ‘The BFG’, dedicated to her memory after she had died from measles. You will see her name at the beginning of each of these books. And I know how happy she would be if only she could know that her death had helped to save a good deal of illness and death among other children. Roald Dahl, 1986

In the 1970s-80s measles was the single leading killer of children, 2-3 million died annually. Through EPI @WHO we brought it down to 450,000 kids who died annually by 2000. Through @gavi it came down to <100,000. Now the ignorant careless chuckleheads want to erase all our gains
