Trump’s former NSA John Bolton: “XI Jinping and Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un, and others, they think he’s a laughing fool. And they’re fully prepared to take advantage of him. Trump’s self-absorption makes it impossible for him to understand that.” (2024)

This is the view of the SA Navy Simonstown HQ seen from my house. It's a graveyard, only a handful of vessels still seaworthy. The upcoming naval exercises with Russia, China & Iran make no sense. Russia is waging war against a neighbour. Iran is an odious theocracy. Call it off

They're not even pretending anymore. It's all just right there in the open. Like ordering from a menu. "Lobbyists close to Trump say their going rate to advocate for a pardon is $1 million." wsj.com/politics/polic…

If someone owes SARS R55 million, they probably: •Personally earned around R100–R120 million, or •Owned a company that made R160–R200 million in profit

Burning down an entire block of Fort Hare University because you demand SRC elections and the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor; torching a library because there is no water; or destroying the only road into your own neighbourhood because government failed to deliver houses — these are among the saddest developments in our country. Nothing can justify such acts of destruction. It is self-inflicted pain — like cutting one’s nose to spite one’s face. A library is not the enemy; it is the tool of liberation. A road is not oppression; it is a lifeline. When we destroy what belongs to us, we hand victory to those who want us to remain trapped in ignorance and poverty. Protest must be powerful, organised, and purposeful — but never suicidal. We must rise in discipline and unity, not in flames and ashes

@Zwelinzima1 As many Lamborghinies as a public hospital can buy. All financed by by non-delivered products "purchased" by Tembisa Hospital and the Gauteng Department of Health.

Morelle: Here’s the problem whenever the president speaks—and I hate to make light of this because he’s the president—but it’s almost always just fantasy. This week he’s suddenly a scientist, telling us what we should do for a fever if you’re a pregnant woman. He can’t even pronounce anything because he really doesn’t know it, but he’s giving medical advice. Then he’s talking about autism, and then he’s talking about trade deficits—of which he knows nothing. It’s an endless series of baloney.

Visit of SANDF chief Gen Maphwanya to Iran would have been approved by Minister. Like Lady R it’s our actions that show SA true foreign policy orientation. Self-defeating defiance. Now try and get a better trade deal from US.

What a disgrace. I took our domestic worker to #HelenJoseph hospital “Breast Clinic” this morning, to have a scan (sonar or x-Ray) on orders from her doctor. @GautengHealth They took her R95 and then proceeded to tell her the “machine is broken”. Two other ladies there said this is what they’ve been telling them for many weeks now - no improvement. She was told to come back next week but to phone first to see if the machine is fixed. No regard for public health. No reasonable explanations. No empathy. This is pathetic. @Lesufi your #GautengHealth department is disgraceful.

@goolamv Or CR could behave less like an imperial president, and more like a first among equals in a coalition government. This could allow him to claim a mandate for pro-growth reforms, instead of doubling down on an agenda that has delivered dwindling per capita GDP.

All this debate around who influenced the VAT decision is hilarious. I mean it’s perfectly clear: Gondwana filed an affidavit 100% defending the VAT increase in every sense. He then asked to settle, after he was torn to shreds in court. I mean it’s not rocket science.
