@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Whether or not it's in roblox has nothing to do with it. Just because you're in roblox using their servers doesn't immediately rule out the use of external services
I'll give you a great example; external competitive matchmaking service
English

@Timelenss @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Because you're building a roblox game? You can't tell me you're a developer and just fail to understand the entire conversation so i'll break it down.
Roblox has it's own infra, therefore its never worth using AWS for a roblox server bc it will never reach scale AWS reqs.

And speeder takes the record falling out of the map 4 seconds after gaining control of the character!

Speed running how fast I can fall out of the map.
English

@Timelenss @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX The whole argument is not if AWS is good as a product. For commercial infra its extremely good. For roblox, it is not.
English

@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Sure ignore my other replies then. Whatever helps you to sleep at night
English

@Timelenss @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Edit: Youre actually just retarded. Youre not a developer, its case closed with what you just asked. Make sure you understand that AWS is before you speak on it and for your last question.
Web servers are used all the time in videogames, like what?
English

@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX + if your load evolves over time and you need to migrate later on, using AWS minimizes risk and hassle. There are little to no equivalents to global content delivery at the scale that AWS offers
English

@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Reserved instances, graviton instances and volume discounts. Clearly you are very biased and you can't hold any valid points without ad hominem.
English

@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX I am a developer for both roblox and outside of roblox, lmao.
For simple VMs and computing usage sure the alternatives that you listed can be cheaper, but AWS is cheaper at a larger scale. And why would a developer use any web servers to begin with for a "small" game?
English

@Timelenss @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX You link to your roblox games, youre not a developer, if you cant explain it - then you yourself cant comprehend it.
So why would you use AWS over linode, GCP, or Azure when theyre cheaper than AWS and easier.
Stop yapping and either explain why or shut up dumb fuck 😂
English

@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Software engineer who does it as a full time job FYI. If you just can't comprehend it, no problem, let's agree to disagree
English

@Timelenss @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX roblox created a generation of retarded kids who think they're developers istg 😭
English

@Timelenss @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Using AWS for roblox is like lighting a candle with a hydrogen bomb.
Way better, cheaper, and easier tools to use.
English

@EladOSRS @Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX I've tinkered with AWS too. I'm not surprised to be honest. You can make some really cool stuff using webservers. One example; I know of a game with 2 programmers and they have a website for their game and from that website, they can change the game's data
English

@Xyrx_yt @SquaredCubeRBX Yeah gotta be lying, youre not a developer. Theres no reason youd ever need something as robust as AWS for roblox unless you were a multi person dev team.
English

@DecimalCubed What's happening here is that the way you need to define the workspace in the Lua code no longer works with the lowercase W because it was deprecated, the fix is either making the W uppercase or define it as 'game.Workspace'.
