Fallout New Vegas senior designer Chris Avellone is tempering expectations for a major remaster from Bethesda. In a recent interview he stated, “I don’t think Bethesda has the engineering knowhow to make a remaster of New Vegas at all.” He explained that shortly after the game shipped, Bethesda offered Obsidian a $10,000 bonus to hand over the complete source code and build assets. Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart turned it down. As a result, Bethesda only has fragments of the code and according to Avellone they had no idea how to reassemble it. This makes an Oblivion-style remake much more difficult than many fans hope, so not happening any time soon
