CAN HON BATUWA CLARIFY? Is Hon @TimothyBatuwa suggesting @UHRC_UGANDA staff should donate their salaries to pay for backlog cases? Are UHRC staff salaries fixed or they were hiked after receiving 20bn/-? Or, is @WangadyaM paying for the whistle she blew on some @Parliament_Ug?

Only 2% (Shs 400m ) was budgeted for execution of mandate where only Shs 100m was for complaints management. Are they budgeting to work or to live?

Today, this council is presented in parliament among those agencies that have fulfilled their purpose, thus need to relieve gov’t of the financial burden and be merged into the main ministry. Elimination of MALARIA will need leadership and lessons learnt from Sleeping Sickness.

Malaria is a vector borne disease just as Sleeping Sickness. With a limited resource envelope, the ministry of Agriculture was able to Solve a Health problem; through the Uganda Trypanosomiasis control council, by elimination of sleeping sickness (Gambiense and Rhodesiense).

Ahead of World Malaria Day, yesterday I held a multi-sectoral meeting with the Parliamentary Forum on Malaria (UPFM) to breathe new life into the fight against one of the leading killer diseases. We were also privileged to host Prof. Steve Harvey from Johns Hopkins University, who is in Uganda to support UPFM in coming up with a community-centered approach to Malaria elimination. Prof. Steve Harvey is collaborating with a number of Ugandan university professors and other stakeholders to develop a multi-sectoral collaboration model to support communities in mosquito control activities. This effort will ensure that the primary responsibility for mosquito control lies with the community, complementing malaria control activities by the Ministry of Health and eventually leading to the elimination of Malaria. I also emphasized the need to mobilize and sensitize the public on the proper use of mosquito nets, planting of repellent plants, clearing of bushes, and stagnant waters around homes, among others. I once again thank members for all their efforts towards the success of this great cause and invite the general public to join Parliament’s Annual Malaria Walk tomorrow, whose objective is to raise awareness about the life-threatening disease.

The Consultation of Busoga Subregion, on the way-forward for the FDC Party and it’s aspirations, was held on Saturday 30th March 2024, in Jinja West Constituency. A Busoga resolution was made. The national decision will be a majority view of the various subregional resolutions.

⁦@MinofHealthUG⁩ Tumwine Alifonse was deployed at Mparo HC IV as public health dental officer, 6 years ago. He found NO dental tools at the facility but used his personal money and bought so that he could work. Relatedly, the autoclave is down. My guess is as good as that.

⁦@MinofHealthUG⁩ how can you offer in patient and maternity services; with only 1 ward of three beds? I see politics in health service delivery. This facility that neighbors Dr. Kiiza Besigye is considered a HealthCentre III yet it has structures of HC II since 2008. ⁦

I have done oversight on this facility in Rukiga district, and noticed that the President commissioned its theater whose finished structure didn’t have a recovery room. Sadly, it’s 20 years but all the same they are Happy. ⁦@MinofHealthUG⁩; carefully apply the word THEATER
