It’s simply not accurate to say govt sucks at everything. To the contrary, govt excels at spending money it does not possess, destroying things that others have built, and avoiding accountability.

Remember that police and prosecutors disclaim any legal duty to protect you from violence. Any protection they do provide is offered purely as a matter of largesse and with marginal competence. In the eyes of the state, you’re on your own—act accordingly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_o…

2 QUALIFIED IMMUNITY WINS FOR @IJ IN 2 WEEKS! In IJ's mistaken-identity arrest case Heath Box v. Broward Cnty., the court rejects the claim of immunity for FL cops who arrested IJ client Jennifer Heath Box as she was returning from a cruise and locked her up over Christmas.

Another @IJ #QualifiedImmunity win! In Rosales v. Lewis, cops stopped Mario Rosales on a false failure-to-signal charge to fish for drugs. We sued, raising 4A and 1A (recording) claims. Using QI to delay discovery, defendants moved for judgment on the pleadings. QI DENIED.

Center for the Rights of Abused Children
The truth is this: child protection isn’t a tug-of-war between “too many” and “too few” removals. Both are happening at once. Agencies routinely overreach and under-protect. Those realities are not contradictions. They stem from the same broken system—one with almost no oversight, no transparency, and no accountability. Our CEO @darcyolsen has lived both sides. Her own children were pulled out of school after a mandatory report from a doctor who misunderstood her foster baby’s medical crisis. At the same time, we’ve all seen the other horror: children like ten-year-old Rebekah Baptiste, sent back again and again to sadistic parents despite more than 20 calls for help—until she was tortured to death. Parents and children alike have the same constitutional rights—and the most basic is the right to live. No parent has the right to torture or kill their child. Intervention needs to be appropriate and effective. That is why the Center exists: to demand a system that can tell the difference, protecting families from overreach while also protecting children from abuse, torture, and murder. It’s not an impossible needle to thread—it’s one we must thread, and we are doing it. And we need you with us. Please join this critical fight at thecenterforchildren.org.

37% of kids are investigated by Child Protective Services. Half of all black kids! Government overreach? @JoshGuptaKagan says yes. Libertarian @TimothyDKeller says no. The debate:

Is there a constitutional right to hug your kids? You're damn right there is—even if it never occurred to anyone to spell it out in a constitution (because it never occurred to them that govt could be so despicable as to gratuitously infringe that right). cato.org/blog/right-hug…

IJ is asking the #SupremeCourt to overturn one of the most reviled decisions in recent decades: Kelo v. New London. In this narrowly decided 2005 case, #SCOTUS ruled against homeowners who tried to protect their neighborhood from being bulldozed to make way for a private development. Now, an important new case could prompt the Court to overturn one of its biggest mistakes.

@JonathanMaberry This is Gus. He's a 5-year-old toy schnauzer. He's read every Joe Ledge novel and story and says Ghost is the best character ever written.

My friend @IJSanders authored this terrific book explaining the history, proper interpretation, and appropriate application of Baby Ninth Amendments. Found in 33 state constitutions, these provisions protect unenumerated rights retained by the people. Get your copy today! #ij
