@ACT2CAM @SuellaBraverman No, his expression was lawful and legal. The actions of the Teaching Regulatory Authority and the Secretary of State for Education that are illegal.

@TimothyTim34892 @SuellaBraverman No, that would not be legal :) It's not that he "held right wing opinions". There are plenty of teachers that hold right wing opinions, with whom I am also good friends. It's the manner of his inappropriate conduct in public, which is the issue. Legal, but unprofessional.

Sacked for telling the truth. I have read the report from the DfE and it is disgraceful. A good teacher has been struck off for holding very normal, common-sense views. Civil servants in Westminster would faint if they met someone from Darlington or Middlesbrough. They are completely detached from reality. I hope Mr Everett appeals and is successful.

A teacher has been barred for ‘offensive’ views on immigration. A 29-year-old PE teacher has been barred from teaching after comments made on X criticising immigration and integration. Samuel Everett was found guilty of “unacceptable conduct” by a panel of the Teaching Regulation Agency. This decision relates to a number of posts made on X between December 2023 and February 2024 which, according to the panel, “brought the profession into disrepute”. The posts include him commenting: “If you don’t respect our laws, culture and way of life, you should leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay. We don’t go to other people’s countries and tell them they’re wrong for how they do things.” Mr Everett was dismissed in June 2024. While the panel recommended that he be allowed to continue teaching after showing remorse, Marc Cavey — the decision-maker on behalf of the Education Secretary — ruled that he should be barred from teaching for life. Cavey found: “In this case, and while noting the evidence of insight and remorse found by the panel, I have placed considerable weight on the seriousness of the misconduct that it has found, which included a teacher engaging in offensive dialogue on a public social media platform, thereby demonstrating a lack of tolerance and a lack of respect for the rights and beliefs of others. “I have also placed considerable weight on the likely negative impact of this behaviour on the reputation of the profession. “I have also noted the panel’s findings that Mr Everett’s behaviour was deliberate and that there was no evidence that he was acting under duress. “In my judgment, the panel has, in making its recommendation that a prohibition order should not be imposed, failed to give sufficient weight to these factors.” It appears that Mr Everett is one of a growing number of teachers who have been struck off for perfectly legitimate comments made on social media. @SpeechUnion Seems as though the Secretary of State has acted illegally by not upholding the human right of the teacher to freedom of expression.

@ACT2CAM @SuellaBraverman Do you think if the DoE had a professional standard which said “Teachers must have white skin” that would be legal? Well guess what those same laws protect people who hold legal right wing opinions.

@ACT2CAM @SuellaBraverman Yes, because the professional standards are illegal. The Department of Education has breached section 6(1) of the Human Rights Act 1998. “It is unlawful for a public authority to act in a way which is incompatible with a Convention right.”

Made some changes to the small boat illegal migrant chart. Left (old), right (new) Do we prefer the newer version?

@ACT2CAM @SuellaBraverman (2) Even if he did, there is no absolute prohibition, and the ECHR has made clear the bar for restricting speech is an extremely high bar indeed. Stick to teaching children to be trees.

@ACT2CAM @SuellaBraverman I’m talking about the second paragraph of Article 10. (1) It must difficult being a drama teacher if you struggle to read and understand basic text. The ruling makes clear the teacher was not expressing racial or religious hatred.

@ACT2CAM @Darlo_Robbo @SuellaBraverman All of which are overridden by the Human Rights Act 1998 which provides a fundamental right to freedom of expression “This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority”

@ACT2CAM @SuellaBraverman So you’re changed your mind since November. You now disagree with Convention Right 10 “This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.” x.com/ACT2CAM/status…

@SuellaBraverman I'm from Middlesbrough. And I'm a teacher. I teach kids who are Muslims, and I have colleagues who are Muslims. His expressed views were unprofessional and unacceptable.

Author and DJ Zakia Sewell is using British folk culture to challenge far-right nationalism. Sewell has journeyed around the British Isles exploring Britain’s folk resurgence for her debut book, Finding Albion: Myth, Folklore and the Quest for a Hidden Britain. Finding Albion builds on Sewell’s hit audio series for BBC Radio 4, which saw her seek out a different, more inclusive idea of “Britishness” beyond the usual national myths and symbols. Good God. This is Sam Everett, he's a PE teacher that said "respect our laws or leave." An independent panel investigated. Found he wasn't racist. Recommended he keep his job. The Department for Education overruled them and banned him anyway. This is what the establishment does to people who say what millions think.

Interesting but not surprising that non-whites poll higher support of Churchill than whites.
