@smithsmm It isn’t, and they might as well just do a remote inspection - such is the ridiculous approach they are taking - AGAIN!

It’s very evident Ofsted are not assessing schools but where they are and the catchment they have. Disadvantaged area more likely to be marked down. High SEND because they are inclusive rather than pushing kids out more likely to be marked down. How is that in any way fair?

A teacher has been barred for ‘offensive’ views on immigration. A 29-year-old PE teacher has been barred from teaching after comments made on X criticising immigration and integration. Samuel Everett was found guilty of “unacceptable conduct” by a panel of the Teaching Regulation Agency. This decision relates to a number of posts made on X between December 2023 and February 2024 which, according to the panel, “brought the profession into disrepute”. The posts include him commenting: “If you don’t respect our laws, culture and way of life, you should leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay. We don’t go to other people’s countries and tell them they’re wrong for how they do things.” Mr Everett was dismissed in June 2024. While the panel recommended that he be allowed to continue teaching after showing remorse, Marc Cavey — the decision-maker on behalf of the Education Secretary — ruled that he should be barred from teaching for life. Cavey found: “In this case, and while noting the evidence of insight and remorse found by the panel, I have placed considerable weight on the seriousness of the misconduct that it has found, which included a teacher engaging in offensive dialogue on a public social media platform, thereby demonstrating a lack of tolerance and a lack of respect for the rights and beliefs of others. “I have also placed considerable weight on the likely negative impact of this behaviour on the reputation of the profession. “I have also noted the panel’s findings that Mr Everett’s behaviour was deliberate and that there was no evidence that he was acting under duress. “In my judgment, the panel has, in making its recommendation that a prohibition order should not be imposed, failed to give sufficient weight to these factors.” It appears that Mr Everett is one of a growing number of teachers who have been struck off for perfectly legitimate comments made on social media. @MrHarryCole Do you really think the relatives of the people killed at Pearl Harbor would find it funny? I very much doubt my Grandfather who fought the Japanese in WW2 would have found it funny? If the other person isn’t laughing, it’s bullying! And that’s what he is!!

Honestly this pearl harbour thing is such a useful test. You either think it’s funny or you’re the problem.

Tales of the carpet monster. 90 minutes lost last night looking in despair for a missing windscreen part, all masked and ready to go. Found the following morning on the bottom of my sock.

@johnesharp @SpeechUnion You mean the standards that say views have to cross the legal hate speech boundary otherwise his views are protected by his legal freedom of expression? Those standards?

Hmmmm - this level of over-generalisation qualifies as bigotry. Hint - veterans aren’t phoney Britons.
Peter Hitchens@ClarkeMicah

Well, .@timothy_stanley why didn’t they take this view *instinctively* and when it mattered? Their Britishness is phoney, manufactured by spin doctors and guided by focus groups.

@reporterboy They didn’t state in exact language ‘I want war!’ ‘I hate Muslims!’ No - you are correct. But then I’m confused by the relevance of the point. If you asked 10,000 people Have you met a racist? Are you are a racist? The results would not align. What are your impressions?

@johnesharp I go back to where I started. You agree in terms of the tweet I posted that it is 100% correct. I made no other point. People can, will, and are arguing over the impressions that’s fine, that’s politics. But too many are accusing them of saying things they didn’t.

Kemi didn’t say I want to go to war and Nick didn’t say Muslims aren’t welcome. I’m sorry but these are just facts, spin them how you want but it won’t change that.

@reporterboy Isn’t politics all about impressions? TBF Kemi has modified her language over time, as this first position seems pretty clearly to support military action IMO. Nick is happy to stand by his comments that have upset a lot of people.

@johnesharp That is your impression. Not what they actually said. And that is what I was pointing out. Impressions are subjective even theirs, but the facts are as stated.

@reporterboy My impression from Kemi was that she instantly supported the U.S. surprise attack on Iran and Nick is fearful of Muslims praying in public and displayed anti-Islamic generalisation and prejudice. If they didn’t mean to give those impressions, then words were badly chosen IMO.

David Lammy wants to take away the right to a trial by jury. An ancient English right going back 800 years. And 100 Labour MPs are refusing to support him. Do you think this behaviour is good enough?
