@SimonCotter62 will first home buyers compete with more or less investors at the auction ? Riddle me that.
English

@MasonSCook @fictillius normal aussies dont have bucket companies to minimise their tax - it only benefits one group of people.
English

@fictillius You are so out of your depth here Eddie I can barely see your little hat. It's tax minimisation not tax avoidance. Similar to how you would deduct items related to your work.

Family trusts are literally sucking the tit of taxpayers dry now their beneficiaries have a big sook like a baby
Jiri Novak@JiriNovak2025
@fictillius Eddie you could never have a trust because you suck off the tit of taxpayers. If you ever had ambition or talent you’d prefer that post your fair share in wasn’t wasted on communists.

@joshhaughto @DaveTaylorNews the RE market was already on its way down prior to this week - it's just accelerating now.
English

@DaveTaylorNews How much of that is people waiting to see how the market reacts and how much is it the market reacting?
English

@alterego1168 @SkullSpeedDeal Or fall substantially till yields increase. It essentially means investors paid too much for the property that it didn’t make financial sense without negative gearing. They overpaid

The whole buyers agents model thrives on the excess volume that competent real estate agents were not able to manage (well) .
Excessism that will self correct in the absolute demolition of what largely is a grifting side industry.
An industry that convinced you that you needed to pay 10+k ( even tying their rates to the settlement value, um what ?!) to just tell you what domain or real estate could of done.
English

The grandfathering of negative gearing is negligible as the investment market is forward looking. This weekend i expect volume and clearance rates to crater as the calculation of these investments changed overnight.
Those that have been grandfathered in only need to worry about sustained cash flow losses - they must also consider riding out drops in equity too over the next year or years.

@Potstirrer111 they all assume they can increase rents to 'cover' the costs like its going to actually work.

@davidgdean the residents of the electorate of Eden-Monaro have alot to answer for

@sir_wen_moon @ShitValueFund whats the alternative ? inflation penetrates everything and taxes exist almost everywhere. Should i get into sports betting because there is 0 CGT ?
English

@ShitValueFund i'm just saying it how it is, you can "earn" 5% but then the interest is also taxed as an income, there is no way you are outpacing true inflation at that point, let alone the increase in monetary base

@nematophy @Anarseldain weed having the smell that it does is enough to make it min 10 years in the slammer
English

@RestoreAussies @Potstirrer111 that is not how the rental market works.
English

@Potstirrer111 Landlords will increase rents to ensure they don’t have too much of a loss, as it isn’t tax effective to do so. This will just translate to increased rents for the regular Australian.
The second order effects of this budget will be highly damaging.
English

@Rizzabeast @Potstirrer111 Yes houses that crumble in 5 years, sustainable.
I hope you get liquidated.
English

@Potstirrer111 You do realise without negative gearing investment properties don’t get built….
Enjoy that rental you are in you will be homeless soon.

If you really want to understand how bad Indian immigration is getting in Australia, just go look at any piece of footage from an auction in the past 5 years.
It'll be 90% Indians without fail.
Hardly any of my friends whose families have lived here for centuries are even considering buying a house btw...

@sentdefender How are the Israelis anything but a source of instability in the Middle East
English

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, Israel set up a secret outpost in Iraq’s western desert in the work up to the conflict with Iran and the U.S. was aware of the move. Additionally, per the report, early in the conflict an Iraqi shepherd discovered the installation and Israel used airstrikes to force back investigating Iraqi military forces, killing one Iraqi soldier. The installation was set up to support operations against Iran, including positioning for combat search and rescue (CSAR) if an Israeli pilot was downed during operations
