This is a thread of ALL my threads about psychedelic neuroscience. A thread of threads? Makes sense when you're living in the metaverse. Zuckerberg has us trapped now. There's no way out. Enjoy...

@z_heern @robertlufkinmd There’s no evidence that microdosing can replace SSRIs or that it’s more effective than placebo. No clinical study states this

🍄 What happens to your brain on psilocybin? A groundbreaking study in Nature reveals something remarkable: After a high dose of psilocybin, your brain "desynchronizes" at a massive scale. This causes: → Loss of your sense of self → Distortion of time → Altered perception of space But here's what's fascinating: The next day, brain activity largely returns to normal. Except for one thing—an "echo" remains. Circuits critical to your sense of self have been reset. This may explain why psychedelics trigger such powerful bursts of neuroplasticity. It's not just the trip. It's the rewiring that happens afterward. The therapeutic implications are enormous: → Treatment-resistant depression → PTSD → Addiction → End-of-life anxiety We're witnessing a paradigm shift in how we understand consciousness—and how we might heal the brain. 🔗 nature.com/articles/s4158… What are your thoughts on psychedelic medicine? 👇

And yes, this is the second time I’m running this just to validate the results of the first study. But I really need you to share this ASAP. We are SO close to finishing this. Unbelievably close, like it could happen by the end of the day, but only with YOUR help!

If I’m on this app, then you know I need something🤪 IF you’ve tried DMT I NEED you to fill this out ASAP. If you know ANYONE that has tried DMT, send this to them: maastrichtuniversity.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6F…

How did the cannabis lobby finally get Trump to budge? Not overnight. Not magically. And not without learning how Washington actually works. @HIGH_TIMES_Mag breaks down what happened behind the scenes: the pressure, the polling, the persistence... hightimes.com/news/how-the-c…

This finding is only concerning for people with brain/nervous system tumors, and it is not surprising. And even then, if your diagnosis is terminal, then I think a proper risk/benefit discussion can still be had. You can think of psilocybin as a fertilizer for neuronal growth. In the case of uncontrolled cell growth, which is what tumors are, you generally don’t want to add more fertilizer. For otherwise healthy people, I have no concern. There are lots of parallels in medicine for this sort of effect. For example, estrogen is neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and beneficial for bone health and quality of life in many women. In patients with estrogen-receptor–positive breast or endometrial cancers, the same hormone becomes contraindicated because it can act as a proliferative signal to malignant cells. Same goes for stem cell therapies. Biology is context-dependent. This is why the profession of medicine evolved in the first place. Many people need help translating the science for their particular context.

🐁 Very concerning finding: Psilocybin promotes brain tumour growth Authors caution against use of 5-HT2A agonists like psilocybin in patients with glioma, "given the profound and sustained tumor growth-promoting effects observed." Extends to other serotonergic drugs like LSD.

Wonderful news and another early Christmas gift: I passed the Dutch Teaching Certificate (UTQ). Looking forward to teaching now & many years into the future at my faculty. First thing on my list: The bachelor imaging course next year again with my passion subject: microscopy.🔬

@tipado Nice video. It’s like I’ve always said, “Self-transforming elf machines? You mean your own mitochondria, or neurotransmission, or other?” Psychedelics are Psychescopes, allowing you to scope into the various processes of your own self.
