@resonant_city @seanilling Didn't he literally just say that he himself experienced bad effects after drinking? Everyone is now scolding him and attacking him for that

@CryptoDunedain @seanilling Research shows that depression and anxiety symptoms (hangxiety) persist days after drinking. I imagine some people are way more susceptible than others. Plenty of people can drink and have no depression/anxiety like symptoms after, but it seems a lot of people have that reaction

@ToastyTurtleTCG @seanilling I see your point but let's be honest about the diet and gym part--that's purely a willpower issue. If you aren't hungover, there is no excuse to eat poorly and being lazy

@IamTheImmortal You're 100% right. Have you ever tried to tell an alcoholic theyre an alcoholic? They spiral, get ultra defensive, turn to personal attacks, get unbelievably emotional, etc. We're seeing that at a collective level right now on twitter

@seanilling I think youre too caught up on the term "ruin" and what he's actually saying. He's saying he drank, which gave him bad sleep, which fucked up his next day and fucked up his diet, which doing that, fucked up the day after and him going to the gym, which ruined his sleep that day..

@ToastyTurtleTCG Dude if you can’t see the difference between saying a few glasses of wine isn’t isn’t good for you but there are tradeoffs and saying a few glasses of wine literally ruined my life for 3 then I can’t help you

Funny seeing people's reactions to this. For the average person, this is obviously a completely hysterical way to think. The thing is that these types of pods have us all convinced that everyone should aim to be top .01% in terms of output, success, lifestyle etc - that's what these guys are. They know well that 99% of their listeners aren't going to have the level of commitment & lifestyle that they do, and so 99% of people shouldn't approach life with this level of neuroticism, but they can't say that because it breaks the everyman illusion that these folks are just like (me, the average listener). They can't really say "You can be top 1% successful & wealthy whilst drinking, but to be top .01% you have to be more committed, like us" cos that sounds douche-y, so instead they act as though everyone should avoid alcohol no matter what their goals, which obviously sounds even dumber.
Mikli@CryptoMikli

Steven Bartlett says a few glasses of wine ruined the next 3 days of his life “It's one of those areas where you don't understand the hidden cost until you really give it up for a while. I stopped drinking at 30 years old. I'm now 33. When I was 31, I thought, I'll have a drink again because now I could really A/B test it. I had a year of not drinking, decided to have a drink again” “It ruined three days of my life. I had a couple of glasses of wine, didn't get drunk. It ruined three days of my life because of the domino effect it caused” “I got worse sleep that night, and then because I got worse sleep that night, I ate more poorly the next day because my dopamine system or whatever, the cortisol system was all messed up. I podcasted worse. I didn't go to the gym that day or the day after because I felt really bad. I then slept worse, and I could track all of this on my Whoop”

@andreavhowe History says the alcohol often consumed by people in the past, like say year 1500 and before, was often times 0.5%-3% ABV. Whether it was wine or beer, it was basically just water with enough alcohol to kill bacteria

Oh my god you don’t just use the items once, and you don’t have to buy $12 mayonnaise. I started out defending these people but, you know what? They deserve whatever it is that’s happening to them.

@ToastyTurtleTCG @SooperMexican There are people in this world that never eat a home prepared meal. I know several. I'm in an argument with one bow who claims a decent lunch (away from work at restaurant) should be a basic right. This attitude is insane.

I thought the avocado toast meme wasn't completely fair at the time but now we got the yutes saying they need a sausage mcmuffin and starbucks coffee for breakfast, chipotle delivered for lunch, and outback steakhouse for dinner every day. So yeah it's over. Invest in Doordash.

@AllanKirkhart @SooperMexican Because the discussion is on how life in general has become more unaffordable and some random rich guy says "Wow all these Gen Xers are buying $28 lunch" and despite the stats saying otherwise, now everyone believes it and is parroting it non stop

@ToastyTurtleTCG @SooperMexican I don't see how that changes anything. I know my own history and the difference between suffering and success between when I was stopping for a beverage on the way to and from work and running out for a burger or slice for lunch and when I stopped. And it was a shit ton of $$.

@AllanKirkhart @SooperMexican Kirk, look at my profile. Almost every account pushing this narrative are people who don't work actual jobs, are literally paid to post on twitter, and always choose one political narrative to support. It's propaganda at it's finest. You're falling for the bait

@ToastyTurtleTCG @SooperMexican The pushback has all been about backlash over a successful dude suggesting people can eat smarter than $28 bucks for lunch. I dont find his hyperbole is too much a stretch given the quality of most rebutals.

Boomers ate shit like this, canned tuna casseroles, TV dinners, never touching fruits, vegetables, rarely meat, no full fat milk for decades living like we were at war with the Germans to pinch pennies when they didn’t need to, and now that people do need to be frugal, they call you a retard for being willing to spend money on anything that isn’t prison food. No wonder these people are disabled diabetics with elevated heart disease and stroke risks. On top of lead and asbestos exposure, they were eating dogshit poison and proud of it.

Some reasons why cooking is overwhelming for many: -They're lazy -They're too stupid to learn how to cook -They prefer to moan instead of trying -They want someone else to do it for them -They're lazy AND stupid AND whiny AND want someone else to do it for them
Deva Hazarika@devahaz

Some reasons why cooking is overwhelming for many: -To cook each cuisine requires different base set of spices, staples, etc -Popular recipes often include obscure, expensive ingredients -Purchasing exact item amts often not possible -Utilizing rest of perishable food challenging

We have now reached the point in the story where GenZ demands to be paid $20 per hour to flip a burger and expects to buy a detached home for $100k . Every parent of these kids has done them a grave disservice.
JMillz@JMillz269

@LibertyJen Show me a home that isn't a shithole for 100k. Even 250k is too much. That would buy you something fancy just 6 years ago. Tired of everyone starting to defend high prices. Yall insane.
