Marcus Freeman's powerful perspective on what the mindset should be for Notre Dame football players jockeying for depth chart positioning in spring ball... "You waste time daydreaming about an uncertain future. Who cares? You should be focused on being the best version of you."

Your habits run your life. They decide whether you succeed or fail. Yet, most people spend time dreaming about their future, completely ignoring the small, everyday decisions shaping it. Here’s how to build habits that work for you, not against you: Start small! - Instead of "I’ll exercise an hour every day," start with 5 minutes. Build consistency first. Create triggers! - Link your new habit to an existing one. For example, “After my morning coffee, I’ll write for 10 minutes.” Measure progress! - Track how many times you stick to your habit. It builds momentum. Success isn’t about big leaps. It’s about small steps taken every single day.

MICHAEL JORDAN WORK ETHIC “Every day in practice was like that to me. It was a competition. So, when the game comes, there’s nothing that I haven’t already practiced. It’s a routine. Whatever happens in the game now, okay I’ve done that before.”

This is the time of year high school football players waste money and time working with specialty trainers, elite 7v7 teams, etc., all chasing the promise of collegiate level exposure. Suggestion: Save your time and money. Make a daily commitment to... *Your grades *Your strength development *Your speed and quickness development *Your skills and fundamentals *WITH your Teammates, at school, at your facilities. Spend time with your teammates in the weight-room, on the field and doing good things together on the weekends. This will bring you the success you are looking for AND will build team chemistry and a bond that will take you to new heights next season. Invest where you are at. Stay rooted. Build the foundation for 2025 now!

Tony Dungy said, "You will never lose emphasizing character over results. Be successful not just in what you do, but in who you are." Good character is doing the right thing. • It's your decisions. • It's your actions. • It's choosing integrity.

"You don’t need to be a captain to be a leader." If you want to be a better leader, focus on being the kind of teammate others want to follow. Take responsibility for your actions and hold others accountable, not because you want credit, but because you care about the standard.
