When Rt. Hon. @TodwongR assumed the office of Secretary General of the @NRMOnline, stepping into a role that required not only leadership but also vision, patience, and a deep commitment to the party’s ideals. From the very beginning, his tenure has been marked by purposeful action and a clear determination to strengthen and transform the Secretariat into a vibrant and inclusive institution.
One of his most commendable achievements has been the digitalisation of the party membership register. With foresight and precision, he guided the transition from outdated systems to a modern, efficient, and reliable database. This milestone did not just improve administration—it restored trust, transparency, and credibility within the party structures.
Equally admirable has been his unwavering commitment to unity and cohesion. Rt. Hon. Todwong has worked tirelessly to foster teamwork and harmony at the Secretariat. Under his leadership, divisions have steadily given way to collaboration, creating an environment where members feel valued, respected, and motivated. Today, the Secretariat stands as a true home for all—open, welcoming, and reflective of the party’s collective spirit.
His stewardship has also brought much-needed financial discipline. By taking bold yet prudent steps, he successfully cleared most of the party’s debts, setting the Secretariat on a path of stability and sustainability. This achievement alone speaks volumes about his sense of responsibility and dedication to long-term institutional strength.
Beyond internal reforms, Rt. Hon. Todwong has elevated the party’s profile on the regional and international stage. By strengthening relationships with fraternal political parties, he has fostered cooperation, mutual respect, and shared learning—further solidifying the party’s standing and influence.
At the grassroots level, his leadership has been transformative. The construction of permanent party offices in several notable districts is a testament to his commitment to decentralisation and accessibility. These offices have brought services closer to the people, reinforcing the party’s presence and connection with its members across the country.
Inclusivity has remained at the heart of his leadership. Through an open-door policy, he has ensured that every member, regardless of status, has a voice and a place within the Secretariat. This approach has not only strengthened participation but also nurtured a sense of ownership and belonging among party members.
Rt. Hon. Todwong has also demonstrated firmness in safeguarding party resources. By addressing misuse and promoting accountability, he has reinforced integrity within the system. This has contributed significantly to the overall stability and credibility of the party.
His efforts to reactivate and energise party structures have breathed new life into the organisation. From the grassroots to the national level, the party machinery has become more active, coordinated, and effective. This renewed strength was clearly evident during the 2025 NRM Delegates Conference, which was widely celebrated as a great success.
All these achievements culminated in a historic moment during the 2026 presidential elections. Under his capable leadership, the party presented a united and well-organised front, resulting in President @KagutaMuseveni securing an impressive 71.65% of the vote—the highest percentage recorded in recent times. This victory stands as a powerful testament to the strength, unity, and strategic direction he has instilled within the party.
In every sense, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong’s tenure has been one of dedication, transformation, and remarkable progress. His leadership has not only stabilised the party but has also laid a strong and enduring foundation for its future growth and success
