Gary, we are doing you a favour: We don't cause congestion We don't cause pollution We don't cause potholes We live longer and are less of a burden on the NHS The more cyclists, the less congestion BTW, 87% of cyclists also regularly drive You should be paying us
gary robinson.👌Plenty in the tank.@gigglingferret

Petition: Tax cyclists for road use We want the Government to tax cyclists, a personal tax for every adult who rides a bicycle on roads. Cyclists should have registration plates displayed if they are on the roads. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7658…

@BobFromAccounts As a pro-LTN* resident of Tower Hamlets, the prospect of voting in tomorrow's local elections does not fill me with joy, given that Lutfur Rahman and his Aspire party patriarchy are guaranteed to be voted back into power. 🫤 *TH – second lowest car ownership rate in the country

Four years ago to this day, Lutfur Rahman was elected on a ticket to remove all of Tower Hamlets' LTNs and safer streets. Four years on, they all remain. People prefer safer streets.

@BobFromAccounts Here in Hackney we have too many cars and delivery vans on some of our highly residential roads, only as a result of counterproductive road restrictions like LTNs. Conveniently , some people who benefit from these measures, like Bob, ignore this fact.

And watch this space to see congestion return with a vengeance Thing that cause congestion It's not road restrictions or road capacity or lack of parking It's not cycle lanes or bicycles. It's this: too many cars and encouraging more cars
Jason Perry - Mayor of Croydon@JasonForCroydon

You told me the wands were causing congestion, holding up emergency vehicles and hurting local trade. So I removed them from Brighton Road. Then London Road. And we’re taking them out in the town centre. Croydon’s roads should work. Lend your vote to Jason Perry and your local Conservative candidates on 7th May.

@BobFromAccounts Reminiscent of the LTN ‘boundary’ roads in Hackney whose residents you think don’t matter.

@TransportNeil @TogetherHackney @SocEnvJustice Further, was the number of through roads the optimum number prior to the LTNs of 2020, or prior to the 1990s LTNs, or the 1970s LTNs? If more through roads solve congestion, do you support building more through roads? Perhaps a return of the London Ringways proposals is in order?

With less than a week to go to the local elections a reminder of what LTNs can do to traffic on the nearby roads.

@TogetherHackney @BobFromAccounts @SocEnvJustice So that's not an answer to my point in this thread, is it? It's a completely separate issue. So if you can answer my point I'll be happy to continue. If you want me to respond to yours I'll do so in a thread about how people like you want to blame cyclists for pollution.

@TransportNeil @SocEnvJustice Sorry for butting in, but I’d say the ‘status quo’ was definitely better than the situation since the wave of LTNs implemented during and after Covid. Remember, virtually all streets in inner London are residential roads. Including the ones where LTNs funnel all traffic to.

@TogetherHackney @BobFromAccounts No, they do demonize cyclists, blaming them for pollution and traffic, and do nothing to actually address the actual source of pollution and congestion. Can you show me otherwise, if not I shall continue to point out their hypocrisy.

@BobFromAccounts You and and your ilk said LTNs would solve that issue (if indeed it is one). Instead they have made congestion unprecedentedly bad.

@DavidHu05137188 @BobFromAccounts Firstly you’re just making stuff up about a group whose ideas and opinions stroke with yours. And then you make yourself look even more foolish by resorting to desperate and despicable insults.

@BobFromAccounts Their post has been totally ratio'd. SEJ as a name is rather ironic for a group that seeks to demonize a section of society and promote another section that causes ill health and death on a serious level. They're a bunch of hypocritical cunts.

@DavidHu05137188 @BobFromAccounts @SocEnvJustice Cycling organisations here in Hackney have lobbied heavily, and sadly successfully for LTNs, which are increasing motor vehicle traffic (=increased pollution) on residential roads outside the LTNs at unprecedented levels. Unhealthy indeed.

@BobFromAccounts @SocEnvJustice I'm struggling to find anyone who suggests that cyclists are perfect, but it's amazing how SEJ and some of their members like to suggest that cyclists are responsible for infanticide and ill health on a catastrophic scale.

@BobFromAccounts London traffic has vastly reduced but congestion is way up, that means it’s the changes made to the roads that are at fault
