@TomEhikian @HayastanPapist Of course it means a lot. I'm about 80% Baltic, so I will be Baltic no matter what. If I converted to Hinduism, I wouldn't become Indian you know. Same with all other religions.

@HayastanPapist No, you can be whatever ethnicity you are and still choose the religion. Your religion doesn't erase your DNA.

no. no they absolutely did not - that is a twisting of facts. they wanted to charge a run time fee based off INSTALLS. unreal is a percentage of revenue, a far easier metric to track.... this was literally the core issue us devs took offense to, i want to make this very clear as its important to note.... installs are extremely easy to fake and fraudulent installs would, under their rules, negatively affect a games revenue directly as unity would take a cut of each one whether fake or not, effectively putting that dev out of business if someone was shitty enough a person/company. theres a reason they backtracked it and apologized bro, it was a dumbass idea. if they 1:1 matched unreal it'd be fine. now i do think devs that hold a grudge even today are retarded tho, as their model now is just fine afaik.

Lol 😂 As indie, I gladly give Valve 30% cut. They’re supporting open source: Linux, Proton, Fex-Emu, etc. Valve is keeping tech free and markets accessible for all. They’re prob the only one that still care abt gaming, the gamers & devs. not greed. It’s long term thinking
Seth Dirks@SirDustyDirks

Valve: 350 employees Epic Games: 4,000 employees Valve: $17B annual revenue
Epic Games: $5-6B Valve charges devs 30% of their revenue for simply listing their game. Epic Games charges devs 0% revenue share on the first $1,000,000 Valve is one of the greediest companies in gaming. You cannot be pro valve and be pro developer at the same time.

tf you talking about? i absolutely paid for distribution rights for certain platforms as agreed by for the engine i use based on their terms and payment plans/offerings. ofc we have to pay for the engine in one way or another. some of them (like unreal when sold off epics platform) will take a % cut of sales after a certain sales threshold is reached. engines are EXTREMELY fair in this regard, but they absolutely get paid in one way or another. shit even gamemaker i had to pay for upfront for rights to distribute. but they are nice enough to not take a cut of sales after the fact, its their own terms that THEY set tho.

@kerissakti yep, another indie Dev here. I'm totally fine with giving valve their cut because the benefits I get outweigh that 30% and it's not even fucking close.

The latter - a rising tide lifts all ships. Better job at monetizing impressions translates into better results for advs + more rev to pubs. Networks need non-attributed data to help with modeling. More signal on what works helps everyone. $APP existing helps $U’s network, and (to a smaller degree) vice versa.

$APPS An investor update released today confirms that the Ironsource Ad Network of $U is closing down effective April 30. You guys know, that this was the only competitor in UA for Digital Turbine.

@Osint613 Armenian Journalist Hrant Dink said before he was killed: "Imperialism will use the Kurds just as it used the Armenians. At this point, the Kurds will either stand by their state, Turkiye, or they will follow America and Israel and lose what they have."

@Restitutor_Iran @Osint613 Why would Persians even care as long as there is no gas/oil in that area ? Drop 10 percent of your population and be richer and could focus on growth and war and you don’t have to all die to be free ..

As a Unity developer myself I can think of a few reasons: 1- Ray Tracing was added late, and the current implemention is comically slow and the denoiser is very poor. 2- There's still no virtualized geometry system. 3- Making an engine for AAA isn't as profitable believe it or not, the only reason Epic was able to develop UE is because Fortnite is a massive cash cow that subsidizes engine development, Unity has no such cash flow. 4- Unity realizes point (3) so their focus instead is on the lower end instead of AAA, that's where they are very successful at (over 50% of all mobile games, 80% of VR games are made with Unity, and around 40-50% for indie games on steam). 5- Nearly 70% of Unity's revenue comes from Vector AI, which is their Ad business, basically the main way Unity makes money is by selling Ads on Unity games, and Ads primarily exist on mobile games hence why they prioritize mobile. 6- And of course it's not all precalculated genius, you can very much credit their failure in AAA to some monumental fumbles, like how they burned over a billion $ to buy Weta Digitals only to do absolutely nothing with their VFX tech and to lay them off and sell some portions of the business years later. This is not to say they don't have AAA games, some of my personal favorites are: V Rising, No Rest for the Wicked.. and that's about it lol The engine is very much capable of delivering AAA quality in many aspects like graphics, but not all aspects, terrain tools and animations for example are severely lacking.

Why isn't Unity being used as much as Unreal Engine 5 to develop realistic-looking games?
