As someone who is pro-AI but often mislabeled as anti-AI, I think the below lacks nuance.
I am anti-generative AI because it is not trustworthy, and filled with hype and grifters, and because many of the companies building it are predatory (e.g., avoiding paying artist and writers etc is certainly part of that).
That said, I have worked in the field of AI more broadly construed for a long time, and would like to see it prosper - but in a way that is trustworthy and beneficial to all.
tldr: you can be anti-generative AI (especially as it is currently practiced) and still have hopes for a broader, better form of AI to grow up and fulfill its initial promise.

My understanding of the main objections of anti-AI are: 1. AI artists are lazy, talentless, and don't do hard work 2. AI companies are stealing data 3. AI artists don't understand traditional pre-AI workflows 4. Jobs are being stolen 5. AI creators are the same as tech bros 6. AI creators are (corporate or AI) shills 7. Humans are not involved in the AI creative process Please let me know if I've missed anything else!
