@jim_keoghan It's like the type of bollocks Martinez was coming with at the end of his time at Everton. How did we lose twice to that shower of shite? 😫

@CitizenSuburbia Gerrard had Watkins, McGinn, Buendia, Konsa, Digne, Mings, Cash & Martinez but midtable is all he could do. There needs to be 2-3 quality additions, but I believe a better manager gets more out of our team

@TomFox87 But even that's not apples for apples with our situation. Smith & Gerrard were given half a billion and were replaced when Villa failed completely. Our trajectory is far better for far less money.

@CitizenSuburbia The point I'm making is that Villa's owners could have easily stuck with either Smith or Gerrard as they would have finished midtable. They chose ambition and now look at them: achieving things 2 generations could only dream of

@TomFox87 You aren't comparing apples with apples. Emery arrived after Villa and led them to 4th after they had burned through half a billion & finished mid table. It took their owners 4 years, 3 managers & half a billion. Our owners a 1 year into the job.

@TrueBenito @GiuliaBould Doesn't that say a lot (negatively) about the lack of leaders outside of Coleman? Surely Tarky, Pickford, Jared, Garner, Gana need to become leaders?

@TomFox87 @GiuliaBould You seem to forget what he has brought to the dressing room just being there. Successive managers have said they couldn't have got through without him. More than just a player.

I welcome HMRC’s conclusion, which has cleared me of any wrongdoing. I have been exonerated by HMRC of the accusation that I deliberately sought to avoid tax. When purchasing a home of my own with a mortgage, I did not own any other property and had no personal financial interest in the court-instructed trust set up to manage my son’s financial award. I was advised by experts that I should pay stamp duty at the standard rate. I set out to pay the correct amount of tax. I took reasonable care and acted in good faith, based on the expert advice I received, and HMRC has accepted this. I have always sought to act with integrity, and I believe politicians should be held to high standards - that is why I resigned from government and cooperated fully with HMRC.  I wanted to ensure that I paid every penny that I owed, and have done so. I am relieved that my family can now move on - and that I can get on with my job.

Ffs working class credentials always reduced to some caricature story about who your parents were! This man has no interest and no history of supporting working class people He tried to close local services including music provision in a working class borough (Redbridge), is increasing privatisation of our NHS, and *supported* student fees when he was NUS President

@GiuliaBould @John_B58 But he would still likely want 6 figures a week even if he took a drop in salary. Let him go to Saudi

There is a myth, very widely held in Labour, that we achieved an huge popular victory in 2024 under Starmer. In fact we won 9.7 million votes, over 3 million fewer than in 2017 and half a million less than the 'disastrous' 2019 poll. We won because the Tories imploded in 2024.

@miloslazaNBG22 @jim_keoghan Watson cracked his ribs and was out for 6 weeks. Kanchelskis had his head turned by offers from Serie A. Then Royle panic signed Thomsen and Phelan, fell out with the press, fell out with Southall, then the chairman who wouldn't sign Tore Andre Flo & Mark Schwarzer. Then he left

@miloslazaNBG22 @jim_keoghan From memory the results in the 1st half of 96/97 were mostly good, but the performances weren't great. A lot of the wins were unconvincing. Then Hinchcliffe done his ACL (out for a year) Parkinson done his knee cartilage (ended his career), Ebrell broke his ankle 1/2

@johnmerro1 If he's appointed he will not last the season. The superstars will chew him up and spit him out. He doesn't have the aura like he did in 2010
