@coachblueprint1 To help make sense of your personal criteria and what’s important to you, we’ve found the MoSCoW method useful. ✅ Must have … 👍 Should have … ❓ Could have … 🚫 Will not have … Coming to a @S_CAcademy course soon!

When you are at a career crossroads you don’t always need to know exactly what you do want. But you definitely need to know somethings that you DON’T want.

@TomRusga @w_roberts6 Thank you. Yeah it’s a bit of a mini crusade of mine to try and get it changed but I can’t think of another good way to describe it which is as succinct. Might get there one day

It’s possible achieving ‘work/life balance’ isn’t realistic. Perhaps seeking a ‘work/life blend’ that works for each of our unique and dynamic needs, preferences and circumstances is a more useful target.

@philllewellyn @w_roberts6 I think you raise an excellent point - describing work as something other than, rather than a part of, probably not helpful!

@w_roberts6 @TomRusga Completely agree and that’s why I don’t think the language of separation is actually helpful in working towards a solution. In my view we perpetuate the problem ahead of aligning and accepting.

@coachblueprint1 Managing time, expectations and boundaries perhaps some of the most under-developed qualities of many entering the work force

S&C coaches end up doing way more than their job spec dictates. But. We sure as hell put a lot of that extra work on our own plate trying to do the ‘best for our athletes’.

Toolset - the methods, techniques, approaches, devices and frameworks you use. What tools could be useful to you? How effectively do you deploy them? And in what circumstances? (4/4)

@GaryHuttSC @dwhembro @eis2win Yep I agree. As practitioners we do have deliverables we’re accountable for though in a way that interns shouldn’t.

@TomRusga @dwhembro @eis2win That makes sense & I completely back the approach. My feeling is that there’s that “intent” through the full spectrum of S&C roles within the EIS though. Whether it’s entry level or further up. So wasn’t sure how the internship title differentiated this from a time bound L1 role.

Great to see the new @eis2win internship rojes that @TomRusga has been working on come to fruition. Setting standards and a good example.

@GaryHuttSC @dwhembro @eis2win They will and whilst I’m not close to this specific role, those who are have made provision to ‘mentor the mentor’ too.

@TomRusga @dwhembro @eis2win It’s be interesting to know whether the line managers roles & responsibilities reflect the role being developmental. That would be a very progressive step.

@GaryHuttSC @dwhembro @eis2win I think most important difference is the intent - not ‘cheap labour’ and a greater focus on development rather than delivery that’s then reflected in the roles, responsibilities and support around the role as well as the realistic prospect of progress to a higher level role.

@dwhembro Hi Dave, I’m not involved in all of the job designs and adverts but in my experience it’s reflective of the job’s roles & responsibilities and also where the role sits in relation to other members of the team; some of which may or may not be EIS employed.

@TomRusga @eis2win Hi Tom, how come the EIS seem to bounce between the titles of physical prep coach & S&C coach?

After a uniquely challenging few years for athletes, coaches and support staff - 65 medals for @TeamGB and 124 medals for @ParalympicsGB has been a remarkable achievement. Some inspiring and powerful moments that reaffirm the positive impact sport can have!

@RICH_AgilityLab I try not to get into feedback there and then as don’t feel it’s the most useful time to receive feedback after the disappointment of not getting a job. Most arrange a call, but have had one or two ask for written feedback too.

@RICH_AgilityLab When informing candidates they’re unsuccessful (normally by phone, but sometimes email depending on circumstances) I let them know I’m happy to provide feedback and how they can follow up to receive that
