@BioIronSocial We've reached an important milestone. In the ASCO Plenary, the first drug based on modern understanding of systemic iron homeostasis, the hepcidin agonist Rusfertide, reported great effectiveness in polycythemia vera: reduced phlebotomies and improved symptoms.

Last but not least - at the Scientific Session on Heme and Iron - Dr. Kautz dissected the direct and indirect mechanisms regulating iron distribution to the erythron, and described the hepatokine FGL1 as a newly identified hepcidin regulator in response to anemia and hypoxia.
