It's come to the point where my private free speech is curtailed due to intolerant friends and family who don't understand the pain they are causing by being hypocritical, thus alienating someone they claim to care about.

@BuzzPatterson Out of context did you not recognize his voice? I once answered a Cellular 911 line and while taking info from the woman thought, "MAN she sounds familiar!" Eventually I figured it out... "MOM! IT'S ME!" She hadn't realized it was me either. First time I heard her NY accent.

Tonight’s ’Buzz’s Bedtime Story” is a personal one. It’s about my father who passed two years ago. Miss you, Dad! Once, in the 80s, I was flying an Air Force C-141 mission around the Mediterranean. I was a fairly new “aircraft commander” (Captain). We called it the “Spaghetti Run.” Rota, Spain, Naples, Italy, Sicily, Rome, and back to Rota. Long day. I always pumped a bunch of espresso every time we stopped. On our last leg back to Spain, while the copilot was flying, I reached out to the Command Post at Rota on UHF radios. Just trying to update them with our arrival time and maintenance status. After a few attempts, with no success, I figured we were still a little too far out. I decided to wait. And then, on the same frequency, I hear “Hey MAC 60160, is that Buzz?” “Holy shit,” I thought. “What is this all about?” I said, “Yes. Who’s this?” It was my Dad. He’s a pilot too. In fact, he flew AC-130 gunships in Vietnam. At the time, he was the 322nd Airlift Division Commander, Brigadier General, based at Ramstein, Germany. (He later retired as a Major General and Air Force Special Operations). He was on his way to Rota also, unbeknownst to me, on a tour of his units. The Air Force unit there belonged to him. We landed at about the same time. I taxied my jet and parked it next to his, an executive jet. I walked over and gave him a hug on the ramp. He ended up taking my entire crew, and his, out for an incredible meal and drinks in the city! My dad loved the Air Force. 🙏❤️ It was a once in a lifetime experience. God is so good.

@dantypo He's, at times, just a tad too accepting of the woo woo. A LITTLE pushback would make his show prime. He's this generation's Art Bell.

I’m not mad at Rogan. This is who he is & has always been. He could have Dave Smith’s opposite on tomorrow and your view would change immediately. What makes him good is that he’s willing to open the chair to anyone willing to sit. He doesn’t claim to be smart… just curious.

@ZubyMusic Notice how important it is that you KNOW they are in therapy? That's the tell that it is self serving/agrandizing bullshit.

When I was younger, I never heard about anybody going to therapy unless they were a war veteran or victim of some horrific crime. And people were saner and better regulated back then. I'm not convinced modern therapy helps most people. The opposite is possible.

Younger folks (than I generally) appear to have a self esteem problem. "Therapy", blue hair, acting out sexually, etc. all come across as, "Look how different/special I am!" When you don't "appreciate" or worse, point out how unoriginal/tedious they are, they lose thier minds.

I feel like we've reached the end of WW2 movies. All of the interesting stories have been told. Now we get movies about black women sorting mail in England and the meteorologist that did the weather forecast for D-Day.
Met Office@metoffice

The first trailer for ‘Pressure’ is here, the film which tells the story of the most important weather forecast; the D-Day forecast. Andrew Scott stars as Group Captain James Stagg – the Met Office meteorologist tasked with delivering the weather forecast and helping shape D-Day's plans. In cinemas 9 September. #pressuremovie @StudiocanalUK

Watching a military movie with submarines and jets with Mikey and me would be absolute chaos. Mikey: “Oh my God, can you believe that?” Cue a full technical teardown for the next 15 minutes. Me: “This is painful…” And I wouldn’t stop talking for the rest of the film. Joe, the only responsible adult in the room: “Alright, you two. Quiet down and watch the movie. Ice cream after if you behave.”
Michael DiMercurio@MikeyDiMercurio

RAGING AT SUBMARINE MISINFORMATION I'm binging "The West Wing," now at season 3. Season 3 episode 1 was a big lecture about how wonderful Islam is. First episode after 9/11. A later episode featured a Seawolf submarine that "goes silent" 4000 yards off a North Korea bay. Okay, usually, the moment I see stupidity of Hollywood on submarines, I click it off. But I bit the bullet and watched. First, we are always silent. We don't "go silent." 2 - if we are loitering close to bad guys, we remain radio silent. 3 - if something goes wrong, we launch a baseball-bat sized SLOT buoy that transmits an encrypted burst comm UHF message to the overhead comms satellite. 4 - the President being surprised that the submarine is 4000 yards from shore? Listen, to go into a nation's territorial waters, you need an official directive from the President himself ordering you to penetrate the 12-mile limit. It's called an "Order to Penetrate." (No steamy jokes, please.) That order is read by the captain and XO. It is then shredded and the shreds burned. (On an unnamed submarine, the radiomen were mad at the captain and "lost" the message. The entire boat was turned upside down looking for it.) The thing is, if you are captured by the bad guys inside territorial waters, it is a violation of International Law and no way you want that directive from the President lying around. So it would be IMPOSSIBLE for the President to be surprised at the 4000 yard item. 5 - There's 12 more errors. Can't someone just fucking CALL ME when you need to make your production realistic? Please?

This one flight, the turbulence was really bad. Bad on toast. People were screaming. Flight attendants in the jump seats. I did that roller coaster thing. where you throw both hands straight up in the air? Said "Woooo!" One person laughed. Everyone else thought I was a dick.

Quick flying tutorial for those who get nervous flying. Turbulence is normal, expected, completely safe, and all aircraft are built for it. It’s not in any way, shape, or form, dangerous. It may be uncomfortable but that’s the worst that can happen. The pilots up front are constantly seeking “smoother rides” which is why we change altitudes fairly frequently looking for the smooth air. We’re talking with ATC, and other carriers, to search out the smooth air. Also, when we turn on the “seat belt” sign it’s to remind you to stay seated and to make the company attorneys happy. You never know when you might hit an unexpected pocket of rough air. I’ve flown through some of the worst turbulence you can imagine on several occasions. What we call “severe.” It’s not fun but it’s not dangerous. Pilots don’t like it either. But, you are safe. I promise.

She's full of crap or very continuously stupid. Entertainment Industry types deal with changed names on the regular and there are plenty of procedures for it so they have legal credentials, including voting registration and "Work" names." "Stop it..."

Hollywood actress and director Elizabeth Banks is speaking out against the Save Act. She is prattling on about how difficult it would be to vote if it passes, even though she has a birth certificate, driver's license, and passport. It’s kind of funny because, in a way, she is really making the case for it. 😂😂 Check it out.👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

Another flying story. There’s a highly classified base in the Middle East that I used to fly into. When we filed our flight plans, we couldn’t say where we were departing from. Just where we were going to. On our way to Frankfurt, Germany, French ATC began asking us what our departure airport was. We weren’t allowed to tell them and they weren’t allowed to ask. It got tense. When we approached the German border, German ATC denied our entry and we went into holding. For quite awhile. We were faced with diverting to the UK with some very sensitive passengers. I got on the horn with our US Embassy over the radio. After about 45 minutes, we were cleared into German airspace. I was a brand new aircraft commander. I grew up quickly.
