@FromLe2 Really annoys me how some of the pundits talk like that. The league is really tough and add to that the way injuries, bounce of the ball & how 50:50 decisions land can influence outcomes ..means it’s far from done. Bath & Chiefs have Europe to balance too (for now at least).

A View From LE2 / Elliott Butlin
It both fascinates & annoys me the latest narrative across English rugby, that the top 2 in the Prem is already done. Given there’s so much rugby still to play & so many variables, to dismiss us so easily is wild & majorly disrespectful to us as a club, our players & coaches.

@ajbennett79 @RugbyInsideLine Need to win this week..suspect we’ll rotate at Saints given we have Bordeaux after that..& then need to keep Finn fit! Going to be an exciting run in for sure. Tigers a match for anyone..although pains me to see Bailey & Hamer-Webb in green!

@Tongantwave67 @RugbyInsideLine Yeah, tough games for sure. Can’t see you losing any home games though given your form and squad strength. Much as I hope we, Tigers, can. I won’t travel with any expectation. Saints favourites because they’re at home. Good as Chiefs and Bears have been you’d back yourselves?

@Tongantwave67 @RugbyInsideLine You think? Can’t says it looks any harder than the others myself. Sarries maybe slightly easier than most in that hunt? But I guess largely subjective and a lot of tough games to predict the results of I’d say.

What a contest. Think we've just seen the winners of the Champions Cup in action Can't see Bath, Toulon or Leinster dealing with them this season #BORvTLS #UBBvST

@LennieNewman1 Not really. You based a characterisation of Bath’s fans on one experience. My most recent experience of a Saints fan’s behaviour was pretty unpleasant..but I won’t assume that he was representative.

@Tongantwave67 Never made it a one club issue, it’s creeping in to all clubs. As I said in a previous post, these were not “tanked up teenagers” this was middle aged season ticket holders who should be able to know their limits an behave. Strange that you’ve just mentioned the Dec game??

5. New fans will be attracted to the game, especially when you witness a contest like last night. A complete lack of class from these middle aged morons who have obviously never played sport at any level and have no place in our wonderful sport.

@LennieNewman1 @SaintDave32 Not saying it as mitigation..just saying I think the reaction would have been the same in most other grounds in a high stakes knock out game.

@Tongantwave67 @SaintDave32 Jim, you are way off mate and losing the message we need to send. To mention Pollock almost as a mitigation is crass stupidity. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@LennieNewman1 @BathRugby this isn’t my experience of The Rec, but I may not be neutral! Is there more we can do to make away fans welcome? e.g. increase notices about behaviour, contact name / number to report anti social behaviour to, joint supporters club receptions, food / drink vouchers?

@dan_hayward87 @LennieNewman1 Also, given the years of failure, the majority of Bath fans aren’t entitled..we’re just enjoying the moment..of competing for titles..never know how short those times will be!

@Tongantwave67 @LennieNewman1 Agree, you’ve just headed down that sarries role of buying world class and buying a back up of international class. Think Fischetti is the 1st international we’ve signed in a while. The rest are club players up coached. More the fans of recent purchased success are entitled

@SaintDave32 @LennieNewman1 If there was unacceptable behaviour..it needs to be stopped, but Pollock thrives off being the pantomime villain. He would’ve got the same reaction at Leicester, Quins, Sarries..in Cardiff, Bordeaux, Glasgow, Dublin & at the Gardens if he played for someone else.

@LennieNewman1 The answer to this was clear and evident when Pollock was yellow carded. It was like Bath fans turned into the most immature crowd I’ve ever seen, yet the world claim Pollock to be immature! Was it needed? NO, but they went there!

@dan_hayward87 @LennieNewman1 Every club ‘buys success’..that’s the definition of professional sport. Fischettii, Van der Mescht, Pearson, Davison, Langdon, Chick, Millar Mills, Kemeny, Ramm hardly home grown. Bath actually have a fairly high % of ex academy players in the squad.

@LennieNewman1 Unfortunately their bought success is bringing some form of entitlement to a normally traditional rugby club

@cornwall_fraser Should Bath fans feel disappointed that he missed a clear forward pass for their 2nd try too? Saints fans should be more disappointed that they lost the lost 50 minutes 29-6 & 1 in 4 tackles. Great game..and to pin it all on the ref is just ridiculous.

@ODellBoy Not scoring a try in the last 50 minutes & only 76% tackle success is what cost Saints the game..not one penalty decision. Saints 2nd try included a clear forward pass…so these things even out. Great game. Saints are terrifying whenever they have the ball… & likely to win prem.

@Charlesrylands7 Only in rugby… does Saints 2nd try not get disallowed for a forward pass?

Only in rugby does a big moment like that not get reviewed by the TMO, never a yellow for Pollock

@ODellBoy For balance..the worst fans I’ve had the misfortune to sit next to at the Rec..have been from Saints…but they have also been the best. Just depends on your seat sometimes.

Now as a rugby supporter who’s been all over this country, and in Europe, I’ve met some absolutely epic people, brilliant supporters too of great rugby clubs, and this isn’t slagging ALL Bath rugby supporters off, of course not, but my god they’re an arrogant lot

@TMR_Olly Pollock shouldn’t have got a yellow, but overall penalty count was pretty even, but Bath shaded possession & territory & Saints tackle success was only 76%..which is really what cost them in the end. Bath won the last 50 mins 29-6..Great game. Could’ve gone either way.
