The next Labour leader must move decisively away from the status quo to beat Reform. That means giving power and wealth to working class people. It means a democratic revolution, rent controls and public ownership of water. It means someone who isn't Wes Streeting.

Wanted to take some time to reflect on a day I’ve been dreaming of for months. Saturday was perfect. Will never be able to express how grateful I am for the warm welcome the @SWFC fans gave my family and me. The sun shone down on our wonderful club on Saturday. It was the experience of a lifetime to enjoy the moment with you all…. To share our new crest designed by the incredible local agency Peter and Paul…. To share the news that after an incredible collaborative effort between my team, the @EFL and BTG we will start next season on zero points!…. To introduce you to our incredible new CEO, David Bruce…. And to witness over 30,000 of my newest friends singing for 99 minutes straight as our Owls closed out such a difficult season with a win. I’d like to further highlight how grateful I am to the @EFL for their diligence and approach in working with us to ratify all issues and achieve our target of closing by 1 May. It takes a village; but without the commitment and tenacity of Asher Simons, Clive Betts MP and James Silverwood in particular, we would not be where we are today. It’s been an extremely emotional 48 hours for me after a long process, but now the focus is already completely on action. We are proceeding ahead immediately on all fronts and we will update you, the fans, as we go. You are the reason Michael and I are here, the reason we have fallen in love with this city and this club. We will do everything in our power to ensure we don’t let you down. David #wawaw #uto #swfc

@RupertLowe10 I have yet to hear him be accountable for anything. It never seems to be his fault or his responsibilty. Quite happy in the past to call others out to be accountable or to take responsibilty.

I think Starmer is just a deeply unpleasant bloke. Awful PM, awful man. He should do us all a favour and resign.

Thank you all for the kind messages of support and interaction. Now that I have accidentally dragged the Lagos Ministry of Health into the Sheffield Wednesday Takeover, I am going to go back to being 73 for the rest of the day #wawaw

Henrik Pedersen talks a lot about the importance of building a good culture at a football club. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Not good optics. #SWFC
Joe Crann@YesWeCrann

Understand that Henrik Pedersen opted to make late changes vs Stoke City due to two players not arriving on time for the departure of the team coach... One of them was taken out of the XI, with Pedersen eager to uphold professional standards. thewednesdayword.com/p/exclusive-il… #SWFC 🦉⚽️

@seasidelass20 @Conservatives We have zero influence now or certainly have had under the fake guise of a democratic 2 x party system designed to make you feel you have a choice and a say when in reality they do whatever THEY want anyway. Good to discuss though. All the best.

@Tonnerino73 @Conservatives No vote is just that. You are silent and have absolutely no influence.. so the Gov does exactly what they want.. and you sit and watch it happen around you.

Keir Starmer refused SIX times to answer whether he spoke to Mandelson about his relationship with Epstein before appointing him ambassador. What is he hiding?

Our pilot of new incentives to remove failed asylum seeking families will save taxpayers up to £20 million. Here's why 👇 1. It costs 158k to put up a family of 3 in an asylum hotel for 1 year. It costs 48k more to forcibly remove someone. A 10k per person incentive, up to a max of 40k per family, will save money. 2. If someone refuses an incentive, we will move to a forced removal. If you have no right to be in this country, you should not be allowed to stay. 3. There is nothing new about incentive payments. The Tories did it. Even Reform say they will do it. 4. Higher incentives have worked in Denmark. 95% of returns there are voluntary. 5. These incentives are not a pull factor. Asylum claims in Denmark are at a 40-year low. And asylum seekers spend tens of thousands of pounds getting to this country, that's more than any incentive payment. 6. This is a pilot of 150 families. We will see if it works and scale it if it does. That's taking a smart approach, that saves taxpayers' money, to restoring order at our borders. I make no apology for doing that.

Arshad Khatana has the most abhorrent and shocking views. So why has Rachel Reeves been “friends” with this fanatic for over a decade? Why, as Chancellor, is she going round his house for lunch?

I have today spoken to regional allies to condemn indiscriminate strikes by the abhorrent Iranian regime and to express UK solidarity. We want to see prevention of escalation and protection of civilian lives. Our embassies are working tirelessly to support British nationals.
