My read on this deadline...
Expanded playoffs mean more teams think they're in it, and the AL is watered down. Low supply, high demand.
That breaks one of two ways. Overpays that look bad immediately, or paralysis.

If @CitiField is empty because younger fans don't care about 1986, that sounds like bad @Mets parenting to me. I know the team stinks & yes we want a newer title to celebrate, but reunions like this aren't going to be available forever. I was 7 so i don't remember it live, but I loved watching the tape over & over the years following it. I also was raised to honor & respect 1969. You don't skip out on Colonial Williamsburg because who cares that was the past. Its history & history is meant to be cherished.

Minter is a middle reliever with shaky peripheral numbers and had been knocked around recently. They got 2 top-30 prospects for him. Were you expecting their top 2 prospects?

The Mets are acquiring INF Bruin Agbayani (the son of Benny) and 1B/3B Billy Amick from the Twins for AJ Minter per @WillSammon Agbayani has bat speed, hit over power profile. Above avg runner Amick has at least above average raw power w/ swing and miss in his game

A dark day. Too many fans blame @JimDuquetteGM for this trade, which he was forced to make by Jeff Wilpon and endorsed and applauded by Fred Wilpon.
Another guy who gets flak for this is @RickPetersonCT, who deserves none of it.

The Mets coaching, defense and situation is so bad that teams are using it to justify paying more for Freddy Peralta.

Not much traction so far in Peralta-back-to-the-Brewers talks. Fluid situation but multiple other teams are more involved now. Some teams believe Peralta’s off year is partly the fault of the Mets (and Mets defense), which may help the Mets

@jetsfan_36 @TripleBoogie I think Wilson and Fields never figured out what was NFL open. They were used to guys with clear separation. Also, they both struggled with reading the defense and hitting the 2nd or 3rd read.

@MikeVacc As a fan who was 2 in 1986, the 2006 team was the closest to being that dominant. With Sanchez healthy, Mota wouldn’t have pitched big innungs either. I’ve read a lot that the Mets had a 3-team trade with the Orioles and Astros for 9 Oswalt but Angelos got cold feet.
