@justaphag6 @davieb88 Do you want some cheese with that whine? Plenty of young people get along just fine, the difference being they do something about it instead of complaining, 'Woe is me...'

@davieb88 none because i can’t get work after education. I live in a society in which the ladder has already been pulled up. Us young people cannot survive, let alone live decent lives. i’d love to contribute to the system but because of the actions of generations before me… i can’t.

Pensioners get free prescriptions. Pensioners get free public transport. Pensioners get their benefits locked. Pensioners get “OAP” discounts at most establishments. 1 in 4 Pensioners are Millionaires. Young working people get fucked, taxed, and then fucked again.

The National Living Wage is right now, £12.21 per hour. In a 35 hour week you will earn £427.35 so in a year it’s £22,222 Presumably they call it a living wage because that gives you enough to live on. A pensioner gets £10,000 less than that. Greedy blighters.

@6606_Connor @Tinebobagain Yeah, there's the problem. See, that 'generation' is comprised of individuals, with individual stories, many relying on a pension that puts them below the poverty line. None of them are 'fucking over' young people, you absolute disgrace of a human being.

@Tinebobagain Telling the generation that was the most economically well off in British history or present to financially support themselves in later age is not "throwing them under the bus" And if it is, what do you call actively fucking over the young who are forced to foot the bill??

@TonyJForder We have to do something. You can’t just watch pay fall behind living costs year after year and then act shocked when poverty, debt and weak demand get worse.

Do you believe someone working full-time should be able to afford basic living costs - yes or no? Because if the answer is yes, then wages clearly aren’t where they should be.

Means testing pensions is an option. But I want to see the same desire and fiscal attention aimed at every single aspect of government spending - and we all know it won't be.

To the pensioners who were howling at me discussing scrapping the triple lock last night I have just two things to say: Shouldn't you be nicer considering that my salary pays your pension? The state pension is a safety net, not a way of life. You've had years to save privately.

@OlIyCFC You elected what was put in front of you. Just think, some 16-year-old is probably going to elect this wretched Labour party, or the broken Tories, Reform who are so despised, or the Greens with a uniquely dense leader. History won't look back on any of them favourably.

Genuinely unbelievable to see these people say the country is absolutely fucked and then attribute the blame not to themselves, the people who elected every government of the past 40 years, but to those born 20 years ago.
MaDaCo@Cirkus37

@OlIyCFC Here speaks the self righteous generation, the person who probably worked their backside off for 40 years, paid everything they should, put money into a pension, probably went without many things now seen as necessary, should get nothing back because someone who hasn’t wants it.

@JackParkr Which, if true, has always been the case. The difference being, we never considered it a burden. But it's not wholly true, because it is a contributory scheme. However it got spent, we paid into it.

Hands up. When you were busy grafting and saving and raising a family, often living in hovels and going without, how many of you Boomers out there thought, 'Bloody pensioners, draining my finances and ruining my future'? No, me neither.

By 2027, there will be 3million pensioners who pay higher or additional rate tax. These people, by definition, are in the top 20% of all UK earners. Yet they will still receive a £12K a year state pension, in a direct transfer of cash from the poorer young to the wealthier old.
GB News@GBNEWS

‘You won’t let me talk!’ Journalist Carole Malone and @miriam_cates have an explosive debate over whether the triple lock for state pensions should be maintained.

No one has ‘paid into’ the state pension. NI payments are spent by the government of the day, not put into a pot with your name on. Using these terms just perpetuates the myth that the state pension is a contributory scheme. It isn’t. It’s a non-means tested universal benefit paid for by current taxpayers.

Mad Miliband genuinely believes that countries are looking at the UKs sky high energy prices in some sort of amazement. Is he really that delusional?

PM Kier Starmer doesn’t need to call a Brexit referendum. The whole country knows Brexit is dead and is holding us back as a nation. Most who voted to leave are now pushing up daises while the rest are Farage type numpties. Rejoin, it’s a huge vote winner!

From today, Labour has increased the minimum wage to £12.71 an hour, cut energy bills by £117, frozen prescription charges, expanded sick pay and brought in day one rights at work. Not bad for a government that’s supposedly “no different”.

Been watching footy for 25+ years, and the BEST players in the world have never played in the Premier League From R9 to Dinho to Messi to Mbappe/Yamal From Zizou to Kaka to Xavi/Iniesta to Pedri/Vitinha In fact I would say with the exception of prime Henry and CR7, the PL has never had a top 3 player in the world at any given time
Dougie Critchley@DougieCritchley

Unsurprisingly as he works his way back from an ACL injury, Rodri hasn't been at his best this season. But make no mistake about it, losing Rodri, the 2nd Premier League player to win the Ballon D'Or since 2001, to Real Madrid... In the same summer as Salah leaves and within 3 years of Kane and De Bruyne's departures... Would be a yet another sign that the absolute BEST players in the world, are playing outside of England.
