@CarlaBeckSK Wow we have a lot of parents who planned poorly, maybe don’t have children if you can’t afford to care for them.

There are 78,000 Saskatchewan children living in poverty. Let that sink in. The rate of child poverty here is higher than anywhere else in Canada, according to a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. This is heartbreaking — and the only answer from Scott Moe is to pile on more taxes and fees on struggling families. Taxes on groceries, children’s clothing. Rate increases for power, car insurance. Rent that’s out of control. Property taxes through the roof. And it just keeps coming. We need change. Children deserve better.

I run a business. A sports bar, JJ's Place. Yesterday 80% of the bar wanted the Turning point halftime show. The rest wanted Bad Bunny. To accommodate I put the TV's on half and half. The 20% started canceling the orders, taking to social media calling me a racist, being disrespectful to my staff, and leaving 1 ⭐️ reviews on Google and Yelp. Mind you the 80% who wanted the Turning Point halftime show weren't happy that Bad Bunny stayed on, but they didn't leave me a bad review, take to social media, cancel their orders, or disrespect my staff. It has become impossible to run a business. I support 3 generations of my family on a sole income, and try to accommodate everyone. The bar business is not what it used to be. Sad day.💔

Everyone: “Oh wow how is it possible she can ski on a torn ACL?!” Me (sports doctor): “well if you had an old tear, known or unknown, your knee can compensate better if you retear. Or if you had a past surgery your knee can cope better with a repeat injury” Everyone: “shut up twitter doctor nobody cares and she’s awesome” Fun day here 😅

@ctvsaskatoon Is this because they are manufactured in china and “assembled” in Canada, or because people realize they just aren’t that good compared to “real” e-bikes

@TheStarPhoenix She has 3 more years to “get everyone at the table” and not actually do anything about any of this. Our city is in crisis. No more city employee wage increases until we get this under control.

Just listened to the latest provincial wildfire crisis update. Here’s what we know: ➡️ Sask. Party Public Safety Minister Tim McLeod has confirmed that Saskatchewan’s brand new multi-million-dollar water bomber has been sitting idle on the tarmac in La Ronge since May 30. ➡️ McLeod confirmed in a media briefing that his government did not have the foresight to hire or train any pilots in advance to operate the new aircraft during a wildfire crisis not seen in a decade. ➡️ Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency officials confirmed that the multi-million-dollar grounded bomber had to be towed to prevent it from being consumed by flames when fire reached the La Ronge airbase on June 2. Let’s be clear — the Sask. Party ordered these planes over a year ago and should have had a plan in place to get this water bomber in the air as soon as it was needed. Instead, it sat on the tarmac as homes in Denare Beach, Sucker River East Trout Lake and elsewhere burned, and major historical landmarks in La Ronge were lost. The people of the North deserve better leadership than this. All Saskatchewan people do for that matter.

@ghost1144 @CarlaBeckSK Honestly he doesn’t have much to gain. He’s probably it seeking re-election. I know I wouldn’t if I had to deal with the left wing arsonists claiming “climate change” amongst other things.

@CarlaBeckSK What would you have done Carla? Called in the military to evacuate the people that could evacuate themselves? THE MILITARY DOESNT FIGHT FIRES!

Rhonda Werbicki’s family home of 26 years burned to the ground at Denare Beach. She believes the military should have been called in and the fire should have been addressed weeks before it reached her community. Even now, Werbicki said, the Sask. Party doesn’t seem to have learned from mistakes at the outset of this crisis. “I’m very disappointed in a government that I voted for and I had faith in. I feel like, because we’re the North, we’re ignored. We’re hardworking people, we love our community and I just feel like we’ve been forgotten. There needs to be more resources for this crisis and into the future. We need help. We need Scott Moe to take this seriously. This is devastation — we’ve lost our homes, for crying out loud.”

The Saskatchewan NDP is calling on Premier Scott Moe and the Sask. Party government to immediately provide emergency financial assistance to all wildfire evacuees forced from their homes in the North. Living out of a suitcase is expensive – this is one of the biggest concerns we hear from evacuees. People need support to pay for food, fuel, and a safe place to sleep. We don’t know where this crisis is going or when it will end. This is about helping people during one of the hardest moments of their lives. There are more than 15,000 Saskatchewan residents displaced and no clear timeline for return. Saskatchewan should follow the lead of Alberta and Manitoba, who have already committed emergency financial support for evacuees. Alberta is offering e-transfers of $1,250 per adult and $500 per child for those evacuated under mandatory orders for more than seven days. Manitoba is providing $34 per day per adult and $27 per day per child, to help cover basic needs while evacuation orders remain in place.
