I want people around the world to know this. Many people overseas see Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi as a conservative and anti-immigration leader. But look at the reality: Japan’s foreign resident population rose from 3,768,977 at the end of 2024 to 4,125,395 at the end of 2025. That is an increase of about 356,000 people in just one year. And even now, the Japanese government keeps saying: “We are not pursuing an immigration policy.” Prime Minister Takaichi repeats the same line. Yes, some regulations have been tightened. But that is not real reform. It is simply the government finally doing what should have been done from the start, after years of loopholes and weak enforcement. At the same time, Japan has suffered economic stagnation for more than 30 years. The public burden rate is around 47%. Tax revenue keeps rising. But instead of meaningful tax relief, the ruling party keeps asking the public to bear more. Prime Minister Takaichi may have some policies worth praising. But she has also been part of the ruling LDP for many years and has repeatedly served as a cabinet minister. She should not be judged by image alone.
