@bluewmist It’s an ADHD thing and most of the time can’t be controlled. It’s their way of letting you know they’re actually listening There are many walls you can talk to that won’t talk back if you prefer that route

@TexasCadetMom @bluewmist Another comment this post works well with
Torg@Torg_

@Kingsuprem40627 @bluewmist The line is when it’s the only thing they respond with. Replying with, “Oh cool what happened next” is different than, “Oh yeah like when I <enter the thing you did here>” The ADHD bit blocks more of the first example from happening

@Torg_ @bluewmist Oh geez another "put ADHD ahead of all other needs". ADHD is not the end of all ends when it comes to meeting human nature and human needs. Believe it or not some humans need to communicate with another human without having to process someone else's experiences

@nessa1316930751 @Torg_ @Pecos_Lilly @bluewmist Yup. I’m extremely introverted cause whenever I talk first it’s super deep and honest, which for some reason people found annoying. So I went all the way till college without really talking to others. Went till I was 28 before feeling confident in sharing about myself publicly.

@Torg_ @bluewmist Wrong. Can you just shut your mouth for 5 minutes and let someone else have a turn talking? If not, i suggest YOU go talk to the wall.

@SoArtDexco @bluewmist Oh it’s normal for sure with a line that can be crossed, but if you find yourself putting down a cup of water then immediately forgetting where it went and you have to walk around the house to find it, you may want to get a test done haha

@dailowe @bluewmist Oh the good ol days eh? How does one learn to concentrate if there are so many thoughts going on all at once. Not to be confused with voices, just thoughts. It’s tough to understand for those who only have one train of thought (or less) at any given moment lol

@Torg_ @bluewmist Not long before he popped his clogs, me owd man dug out all my 1960s skool reports. Every year at least one teacher had written, "David must learn to concentrate!" Not much help but better than being stuck on ritalin, imao.

@Torg_ @Caledoniaz @bluewmist You are so, so wrong. People want to talk about themselves. Clearly you understand that concept. When someone tells you a story, ask them about it. They aren’t telling you about their thing just to give you a reason to talk about yours. Internalize that and you’ll be better off.

@FDelicioso @bluewmist Agreed! It’s tough for those with ADHD to control the impulse to want to reply in certain ways but there are definitely those that try to steal the attention for themselves I’ve become an introvert so my relatable story is usually all you’ll get from me anyway lol

@Torg_ @bluewmist It’s not JUST an ADHD thing. I don’t know if people with ADHD can control it or not but those who just need to make every conversation about themselves can most certainly control it.

@Torg_ @Pecos_Lilly @bluewmist Thank you! For me, I feel like a lot of the things I say are boring or have no point.. but when someone is speaking to me and there’s a story I can relate to, I share mine because it’s my way of having a conversation… not because I’m self-absorbed..

@dailowe @bluewmist I remember my 4th grade teacher mentioning I may have ADHD to my parents but I wasn’t a hyperactive kid so they always disregarded what the teacher said. Come to find out a few years ago the hyperactivity bit also includes hyper fixation on things like hobbies or work

@Torg_ @bluewmist It's a sort of shutting down under stress, sometimes a lifesaver, sometimes causes more trouble than it saves. Someone told me it is actually a symptom of Hyperactivity but that's just confusing

@goodoo_dr @Caledoniaz @bluewmist If I was ignoring them I wouldn’t tell a relatable story If someone was talking about the ocean and I butt in with a time I rode my bike through a forest, yeah, that would fit your example, but that’s not the case here

@Pecos_Lilly @bluewmist It’s not self-absorption if you’re constantly never thinking about yourself in the first place. I can take care of myself but will always put others in front of my own needs when the situation calls for it

Bullshit. At best it is self-absorption/obliviousness and a lack of common courtesy. At worst, it is a constant need for attention. And it isn't necessarily what it is about (not about me me me) it is what it comes across as (about me me me). Stifle it. You'll be amazed at the things in life that become so much easier once you start exercising self-control and self-awareness.
