Full marks to @OctopusEnergy customer service team. Not only has my Dad's direct debit been reduced and refunded back to November when my Mum passed away, they also sent flowers and a lovely message. This is how it's done.

For many years, Annie has kept an illustrated, annotated diary of all the stuff in our garden through the seasons and often uses it to compare with previous years. OK so i am terrible at photographing it but it is nice to look at as she is talented at this kinda stuff
Today the (sad) time finally came for me to wish my @NorthMid family cheerio. Thank you all for your love, patience, kindness, support & laughter. Thank you also for an amazing farewell party. Keep shining bright, you’re truly awesome & so diverse….what could be better? 🤩
Some good news to announce. My series of extended reflective conversations with those who shape our political thinking - whether politicians, campaigners, trade union leaders or diplomats or the occasional archbishop, chief constable, writer and influencer - is being extended to more episodes each year & will be broadcast on @BBCTwo as well as @BBCRadio4 and on @BBCSounds. The new extended & regularly televised series of Political Thinking starts next week. Some interesting guests coming …

A love letter to Wes
We met in different times. In 2000 – when we met – it was not illegal to scream homophobic abuse across the street at a gay couple. The age of consent was 18 for gay men but 16 for everyone else. I was 16, Wes just a little older. We were broke. But we found enough money each week to stay away in an Ibis hotel room to avoid the embarrassment of our parents.
Over time, as you do with age, we became more confident, more devoted, more principled – to the point we couldn’t lie anymore to our loved ones and employers. When you are lucky enough to find your soulmate at such a young age, it’s overwhelming and exciting but also scary. But over time – it gets better. Then, in your late 20s, you find yourself – you accept what you are, what you aren’t – and you build on the qualities that have got you there together. You ‘come out’ to everyone you value and lay the foundation of a life today.
For us – that’s Wes & Pete. That foundation has allowed us to grow and focus on growth without the distraction of jealousy, paranoia, or resentment.
Zoom ahead to 2025. What are we? Two guys in their forties, building, building, and building. With a love and commitment that I’ve rarely seen anywhere else. It drives our ambition, success, relationships – everything.
Wes is my soulmate – he means more to me than my own life. And for whatever time we have together on this earth, I think we’ve been so lucky to have found each other. We won’t live forever, and pain and heartache are to come, as they are for all of us.
As our late Queen said: Grief is the price we pay for love.
I love you, my dear Wes, with all my heart.
