@DrAlmarielao Just because you give 2 weeks notice doesn't mean your employer must allow you to continue at your post. The employer pays you but it is at the employer's discretion to decide whether you work or not. This is so common. Good grief.

A woman at an office decides to do the “right thing” and gives her employer a two-week notice after accepting a new job. Instead of appreciating the professionalism, the manager tells her to pack her things and leave the same day. Two-week notices used to be about professionalism and mutual respect, but situations like this make many employees question whether loyalty in the workplace is still a two-way street. Some companies appreciate the notice, while others treat it as a signal to cut ties right away. If there’s always a risk of being terminated immediately, is giving a two-week notice still worth it?

Our biggest rival company offered me the same role, double the salary. I handed them my resignation. HR said that my 2-week notice wasn't enough for them to find a replacement for my role. I didn't really care. Before I got out, she snapped, "You'll regret betraying us like this after 9 years!" I just smiled, not realizing what she really meant. My 1st day at the new company was a bit strange. No warm welcome, nothing. Then my blood ran cold when my new boss sent me an email. It said: "We regret to inform you that we're withdrawing your job offer effective immediately. Your former employer sent us a negative reference, claiming you left unfinished work and raising concerns about your performance. We wish you success in your future career." I went numb... Today was supposed to be the day I signed my contract and started this higher-paying role. Instead, I suddenly had no job at all. My old company clearly interfered and pressured my new workplace to cut me loose. And I get it-most companies won't risk industry conflict or bad blood with a competitor over one employee. In toxic workplaces, references aren’t recommendations. They are ammunition.

@KurtSupeCPA I feel dumber after reading that because everyone in business who has a partner has a partner agreement that spells out HOW and to WHOM shares can be sold. Good grief.

Two guys build a plumbing company together. Best friends for 40 years. $12M business. Split 50/50. Partner gets divorced at 64. Ugly. Wife cheating. He's devastated. Divorce settlement: She gets 30% of the business. He keeps 20%. His partner still has 50%. Now there are three owners. Ex-wife holds the swing vote on everything. He wants to sell to his partner's son who's been running it for 10 years. Ex-wife votes no. "I want market price. Outside buyer." She's already talking to private equity. They'll gut it and flip it. The son loses everything he's built. The buy-sell agreement? Written in 1987. Says nothing about divorce. No life insurance funding. No valuation updates. No divorce triggers. Just says "in the event of death or disability." Divorce wasn't death or disability. He's 64. Healthy. Could live another 25 years watching his ex-wife destroy what they built. Him to his partner: "How could you let this happen?" Partner: "I didn't think she'd get any of the business." 40 years of friendship. Ended by a divorce attorney who read their buy-sell in 20 minutes.

@hell_line0 I think this is a good time to remind everyone Offense is TAKEN; not given! If friend's jokes don't please, don't listen!! Problem solved. She's the "controller" in this situation, not the partner.

I once watched a woman spend an entire dinner trying to "explain" to her partner why his friend’s jokes were disrespectful to her. She was calm. She used "I feel" statements. She was being the perfect "communicator" that therapy books tell you to be. His response? "You’re just being sensitive, he didn't mean it that way. Don't make it awkward." Moral in 3 lines: Emotional invalidation like "you're too sensitive" is often a defense mechanism that protects the partner (and their social circle) from accountability, not a fair assessment of your feelings.

@brianlilley It is real and quite understandable from Trump, given the things Reiner said about him over the years. Reiner was a political lunatic. Speaking that truth does not diminish Reiner's artistic and cultural to the fabric of America. Truth is important.

I saw someone post Trump’s reaction to Rob Reiner’s death and thought it must be fake. There are a lot of fake Trump posts. No, this one is real. It was reposted by an official White House account and I see it on Trump’s Truth Social.

Honestly, I do not think there is ANY nefarious intent here because those I know whose politics sit squarely on the left, but who haven't cut me out of their lives...yet, complain of the SAME thing, in reverse. Every time they look at the "for you" section it is filled with right-wing pundits and influencers. Elon has stated many times that his vision of X is to be as a "town square" in which ALL ideas can be shared and discussed. Most users of X; however, try to "tune out" the other side and with the use of "FOLLOW" find themselves in a confirmation bubble in short order. The X algo KNOWS what political stripe you wear based on who you follow, so it purposefully offers you posts from "the other side" so you will know how they are thinking. Seriously, how can we even attempt to repair the divide, if we are completely unwilling to even be exposed to ideas and beliefs that may be opposite our own?

Not enough information has been provided. However, if these people were legitimately conducting an inspection, there is NO circumstance that would make this a "crime." In most jurisdictions, a landlord must provide a minimum of 24 hours notice of entry; except for an emergency situation, but said notice can be posted in the lobby. The tenant does not have to "agree" with the landlord's desire of entry and has no right of refusal. The landlord must simply provide notice. It is, after all, the property of the landlord. Lesson to be taken from this unfortunate situation? If you are a tenant, especially in a multi-unit building, routinely check the common spaces for posted notices of various building maintenance events that require entry into your unit. If a notice exists, "Well, I didn't see it," isn't a valid argument.

🚨 GIRL WAKES UP TO STRANGE MEN INSIDE HER APARTMENT She screams: “What the f*ck are you guys doing?! Why are you in my apartment?!” One of them says: “We’re doing an inspection M'am… we didn’t think anyone was home.” She fires back: “I’m naked in my house - and you came and opened the door?! I'm calling the police!” Was that a mistake, or a crime?

"Crossing the floor" has always been a part of Canadian politics, but so has the introduction of RECALL legislation in private members' Bills. Numerous times, Bills have been put forward that would provide a means for an MP's constituents to truly have a say if this should happen, but our federal gov't has not seen fit to truly consider, let alone pass, this "checks and balances" legislation. While Canadians around the country may be very angry about an MP switching his or her Party, the voices that truly matter are those the MP is supposed to represent. Those people should have some mechanism to trigger a by-election IF they believe it is necessary.

He shouldn't be allowed to SIT, at all. Canadian politics is PARTY driven, with the Party having the most seats forming gov't. Therefore, if this clown no longer wishes to be associated with the Party that the people voted in, then there should be a by-election. Period. Oh, and what of Ronnie LeBlanc, the actual Liberal candidate? If resigning the Party triggered a by-election, who do you think the Libs would choose as their candidate? I doubt it'd be the guy who has now proven he's for sale to the highest bidder.

EXACTLY! The riding is pretty much 50/50, but besides the voters being ticked, what about the actual Liberal candidate, Ronnie LeBlanc? He's out a job that should rightly be his if Acadie-Annapolis was to have a Liberal MP, right? And they wonder why so many are apathetic and don't show up to vote. It's probably because they figured out it's all a charade, in the first place.

@JasminLaine_ Funny how “principles” only kick in after the election is over and the seat is secured. If he really believed in democracy, he’d resign and let his voters decide — not cross the floor and pretend it’s noble.

For this particular issue, we cannot just "the" left. While many average people, who have either consciously bought in or have been brainwashed to believe support for the ideology makes them "better," seem to love the transgender community and all of its mental illness, never be tricked into thinking that leftist politicians and influencers do. Oh no. Leftist politicians pretend to love transgender ideology because they know it is a polarizing issue within the public as a whole. They love the DIVISIVENESS; not the actual ideology. The more division within the populace, the more fighting. The more these politicians keep us fighting about these social issues, the less time we have to actually take them to task on their horrendous policies. Honestly, they are just creating a diversion for us and we keep falling for it.

Why does the left love the transgender community so much that they would be willing to deny biological women their right to privacy and their right to compete fairly in sports? The left has truly become anti-woman and all to support and promote the mental illness of less than 1% of the population.

@mitchellvii That was a precision hit. That means the shooter is either a. an ideologue who just happens to have advanced sniper and stealth training; or b. a sniper for hire Since it is most likely b. the question becomes "WHO hired him?"

Shooters who are killing for ideological reasons usually end up dying in the process. The fact the shooter made a clean getaway tells me this was a professional hit and not just a lone crazed gunman.

The problem with charging Obama with a crime for changing the intelligence estimate on Russia is that as president, he can accept or deny any intelligence estimates. We say that we know the Steele Dossier was a fraud now but can we prove Obama knew that at the time or was he relying upon Brennan's opinion for that? And don't forget Special Counsel Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Trump's own DOJ after Sessions foolishly recused himself! If Sessions had not recused and no special counsel had been appointed, 90% of the Russiagate damage would never have happened. Yes, Obama was being very political here but Trump's own admin poured gas on the fire! These are the facts folks.

Ah, but the future cannot be secured unless and until some "things" of the past have been resolved. The Epstein thing is ridiculous. It's beating a dead horse for ZERO benefit. Russiagate IS a big deal. People went to prison and/or lost everything they spent their lives building just because of their association with Trump. That cannot go unpunished. If it does, it WILL happen again with the next POPULAR presidential candidate of the GOP. J6 IS a big deal. Again, people went to prison for basically doing NOTHING because the Dems to frame it as an insurrection (INSANE!) to "get" Trump. Remember, they impeached him at the end of his first term!! That cannot go unanswered. Good citizens with a legitimate gripe protested their government and for that they went to prison. Election interference/cheating IS a big deal, too. Without getting to the bottom of it and punishing the perps, it too WILL happen again. I ask, what is the POINT of the GOP being "in power" if they do NOTHING with it to resolve these issues of the past and make sure they do not; cannot happen, again?

Have you noticed that whichever party focuses on the past loses? Throughout the 2024 race, the Democrat Party was obsessed with the past and they lost. Donald Trump was focused on the future and he won. Learn from that.
