@owenjonesjourno American here - this is insane, unprecedented, and most people I’ve spoken to are baffled, worried, and laden with anxiety. Not sure how much things are going to cost in a month and no idea how to prepare for the next 6 months let alone 4 years.

@Exogynous @Calaluin @guyverhofstadt Just checked and only 20% of our beef is imported and only 50% of that comes from USA. I actually think a lot of Canadians would support this right now. We want to work with trading partners who are interested in green energy and fighting climate catastrophe.

You need to understand the EU first. So let me give you a very small insight. Canada would have to accept Schengen open borders and the Euro. This would cause a HUGE issue with the US border as they would be expected to close and control it. Also their trade deal with the US would be dead. Then ALL The EU regulations on agriculture would apply requiring all farming to come into compliance within a very short timeframe. Then goods from the US would be subject to EU controls and tariffs. US Beef? No chance it has hormones in it. Canadians would have to take beef from inside the EU. The list is VERY long. Especially the part about after taking the Euro the ECB and the EU commission then has veto on their budget. Do I need to go further?
