This is my sister. She is a nurse who is administering the Covid vaccine. Her job includes notifying employees if they are Covid positive. I talked with her today. She sounded more joyful, more optimist than she has in the last 10 months. She is my hero! This is our way back.

🚨 "THEY PICKED THE WRONG GUY" 🔥 Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) retired Navy Captain, combat pilot, NASA astronaut just dropped the hammer on the Trump administration. In the middle of his legal battle with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the video where Kelly and other lawmakers reminded U.S. servicemembers: "You do NOT have to obey illegal orders." Kelly told Face The Nation: “The administration is trying to shut people up, but in this case, they picked the WRONG GUY.” “My role as a United States senator on that committee is to speak out about these issues, and I said something that they didn't like.” Hegseth tried to demote him, strip his pension, and silence a sitting Senator and 25-year veteran for defending the Constitution. Kelly is fighting back and a federal judge already blocked the retaliation. This is what real leadership looks like. Tag every veteran & active-duty troop who needs to see this.

Still posting the documented corruption, conflicts of interest, and abuse of power surrounding donny trump. DAY 118 We somehow normalized the president treating the White House like a product placement set. trump memecoins. Crypto ventures tied to family businesses. Dinners for top holders. Private club events. Branded merch. “Patriotic” deals linked to political access. At some point, the presidency stopped feeling like public service and started looking like a nonstop monetization play. That should bother everyone regardless of who you voted for. The Oval Office is supposed to represent the American people, not double as a damn backdrop for whichever venture is useful that week. That line used to matter. Still counting. Check out the highlights tab for the days 1-117.

With the president calling reporters “dumb” for asking a very basic question and everything feeling angry and exhausting lately, here’s something good. After tornadoes tore through Mississippi this week, a storm chaser helping search the wreckage heard faint little meows under the debris. Buried beneath insulation and broken wood, he found a tiny kitten somehow still alive. With some help, he pulled the little dude out completely unharmed. I think little moments like this matter. Not because they erase all the bad stuff going on, but because they remind us there are still people who stop, listen, and help when something vulnerable needs saving. The world needs more of that energy right now.

"The Scottsboro Boys were nine black teenagers ages 13 to 20, who were falsely accused in 1931 of raping two whıte women on a train." "An all white jury found the young men guilty, although the women eventually admitted to lying about the r@pe." "The youngest of the boys was blind and was born with syphilis... proving the boys could not have r@ped the women without spreading the disease." Further noting. "The Scottsboro Boys collectively served more than 100 years in prison. Only one of the men survived after serving several decades in prison to later be exonerated." Augustus Walley was among the earliest Black Medal of Honor recipients and a member of the legendary Buffalo Soldiers. Born around 1856, he served in the 9th U.S. Cavalry during the Indian Wars, a time when Black soldiers were often sent into the most dangerous assignments while still facing discrimination within the ranks they served. In 1870, Walley showed extraordinary courage under fire during an engagement in Texas, helping rescue fellow soldiers while under intense attack. For that bravery, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. His story reflects a complicated chapter of American history. Black soldiers fought for a country that did not yet fully fight for them, proving loyalty, discipline, and valor on battlefields where recognition was rare and equality even rarer. The Buffalo Soldiers helped shape the American West. Augustus Walley helped define what courage looked like in that uniform. A legacy of service, sacrifice, and strength. Cc: Vintage Iconic

@Acyn Did you catch @AOC talking to a packed house in @Chicago on @CSpan last week? Worth a listen. Talked about what it took to walk into Congress as a former waitress. Smug idiots like @tedcruz can't get their heads around it.

Ted Cruz mocking bartenders while collecting a government paycheck for over two decades is the perfect picture of modern Republican elitism. People who actually worked double shifts, cleaned tables, worried about rent — they know more about real America than half the men screaming “patriotism” from cable TV studios. That’s why guys like Cruz hate people like AOC. She reminds them where they actually came from.

PabloReports: Ted Cruz called you a parasite and disparaged your work as a bartender. AOC: It’s not a secret the disdain Ted Cruz has for people who work working-class jobs. It’s not a secret what he thinks of the waitresses, the line cooks—he thinks we’re less than him. He thinks that because he has a Harvard degree and has never scrubbed a table that it makes him better than someone who has actually had to work for a living. I think it’s funny that he’s been taking a government paycheck for 23 years but has the audacity to criticize someone who has come from a family that had to work their way up and earn their place here.

In lieu of flowers: My sister is running the marathon for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where I was treated last year — a cause selected before we ever had even a hint of a thought that our family would lose our seemingly healthy dad to something completely different less than 14 months later. My seemingly healthy, strong father Daniel “Dad Timpf” Timpf died very unexpectedly on the evening of May 7 at just 69 years old.   It does not seem like enough to simply call him my father, because he was so much more than that. He was my rock, my hero and my best friend. He was loyal, funny, kind, selfless, hard-working, and so devoted to his children that it was impossible to be near him and not find yourself inspired. He was a writer, a painter, a sailor, and somehow knowledgeable on every subject from world history to literature to accounting. He was the most dependable person anyone has ever met. I always felt like, as long as I had his phone number, there was not a problem I could not solve. I needed him here with me; I am not okay, and I am far from the only person who feels this.   The birth of my son in February 2025, his first grandchild, was supposed to be a happy new beginning for our family. A family that had been already once devastated by an untimely loss: the loss of my mother Anne Marie to a rare disease in 2014 just a matter of weeks after her diagnosis.   The joy of my son’s birth was, of course, complicated by my also very unexpected breast cancer diagnosis just a matter of hours before going into labor with him. During this time, my dad did what he did best, which was to save the day. As soon as he heard about my diagnosis, he simply got into the car and started driving to New York -- making it through the tunnel just as my  son was born…on the day that happened to be his own birthday, as well.   In the tumultuous time of a simultaneous new cancer diagnosis and new baby, my dad was the sole reason for our stability, rushing in to help care for our son, and returning to do so again for my double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and any time that we ever needed him. It was an awful, awful year… but I found so much joy and hope throughout it by watching the beauty of a very special relationship form between my son and my father. This horrible thing that was happening was creating such a very special bond between the two of them -- almost making the terrible thing worth it -- and I was so excited to see how that bond would grow.   The bond was of top priority for my father, who visited from Michigan often. I saw him last on the Monday before he died, and my son was so proud to help his grandfather push his suitcase down to the car as he left. The goodbyes were quick. Why wouldn’t they be? We would all see each other again at the beginning of June, when we would all head to Texas for my shows and to see my grandpa. We wanted to make sure that my son could spend as much time as he could with his great-grandfather. He is, after all, 93.   I was certainly not over the trauma of my cancer or having to amputate the breasts I so badly wanted to feed my son with, but the one thing I could always count on to get me through my worst moments was seeing my son’s and my father’s faces light up when they saw each other, be it during the visits or our routine morning and bedtime FaceTime calls.   That is, at least, until I had to hear over the phone from a doctor I had never met in an emergency room in the same town up north that I’d previously announced to my father that I was pregnant that my dad was dead; I would never see him again, and neither would my son. It would turn out that last year was not the hard one, after all. Rather, it was the one I would now do anything to relive. I would amputate my breasts every year just to be able to speak with him one more time, even for five minutes.   I am currently living an unimaginable horror. For many people, this is a tragic story. For me, it’s my life. I do not know how I will recover from it. I only know that I have to for the sake of what is left of my family.
