Today I joined First Nations Chiefs at Queen's Park as they called for a full public inquiry into the Ford government's wildfire response. We are behind them completely. Their communities warned this government before the fires came, and they were left to organize their own evacuations anyway. And what Doug Ford and his government have said since simply doesn't match what happened on the ground. That's exactly what a public inquiry is for. Right now, the priority is the fires still burning, and crews need every resource we can send. But when this season ends, the families who lost everything deserve real answers about why they were left on their own. That's how we make sure this never happens again.

A woman in her 20s died Tuesday after falling while hiking near Marvel Peak in Banff National Park. RCMP said she was part of a group of four on a multi-day trek from the B.C. side when she lost her footing on steep terrain. Her body was recovered the following morning. The death follows another fatality days earlier, when a 65-year-old Calgary man died after slipping on the Mount Temple scrambling route.
