Seriously - this farm bill is so much bigger than just them poisoning us.
The HighWire@HighWireTalk

🚨This is IMPORTANT. The Farm Bill vote happening right now contains a provision that goes far beyond pesticide liability, and @Dennis_Kucinich came to the steps of the Supreme Court on Monday to make sure people understood what is actually at stake. The Supreme Court heard arguments Monday on whether Bayer can be shielded from state-level failure-to-warn lawsuits. But as Kucinich explained, the justices are not being asked to decide whether glyphosate causes cancer. They are being asked to decide whether states retain their constitutional right to protect the health and safety of their own people. The 10th Amendment reserved that power to the states when this country was founded. The Supremacy Clause preemption argument Bayer is making, backed by the Trump Justice Department, would strip it away. The Farm Bill makes this worse. Removing the pesticide liability shield language, as some representatives fought to do, does not address the EATS Act provisions buried in the same bill, which would block states from setting agricultural standards stronger than the federal baseline, covering chemical use, animal welfare, and beyond. The Rules Committee refused to allow a vote on removing those provisions. That leaves voting no on the entire Farm Bill as the only remaining path to protecting states' rights over their own land, their own farmers, and their own communities. This is a constitutional moment.

I love Zen. She is a powerhouse and my heart goes out to her. ❤️
The HighWire@HighWireTalk

Zen Honeycutt (@zenhoneycutt) founded Moms Across America. She buried her son Ben eight months ago and she was on the steps of the Supreme Court Monday anyway. Ben was 22 years old. He ate organic food for a decade, avoided everything he could, fought his allergies and his MTHFR variants and tried every way he knew to stay healthy. Eight and a half months ago he chose to leave this world. His mother had his body tested after he died. What came back was a roadmap of everything this fight is about: high levels of pesticides including DDT, a chemical Monsanto made that is banned in this country, along with heavy metals, mycotoxins caused by glyphosate in food crops, and critically low nutrients, because glyphosate strips 80 to 95% of nutritional value from crops even at drift-level exposure. He ate organic for ten years and it still got him. Zen stood at that microphone and said she is deeply betrayed and she is mad. And then she said something that Bayer should take seriously: she is unstoppable. Fourteen years into this fight, a grieving mother, and she is still the one they cannot get rid of. The love these moms carry for their kids is the one thing no executive order, no Supreme Court brief, and no corporate lobbying budget has ever been able to touch. They are never going to win. Zen said so. And she meant it. We love you, Zen. 🙏

Because we’ve been so programmed to believe everything is out to get us - they won, if that’s the case. If you see fear and gloom and attack behind every single thing, they’ve won. I don’t believe in subliminal messaging. I work too much in my sub conscious to believe that I would render control of it to another.

This tells you everything you need to know about the power of the human mind.

You check your Apple Watch in the morning. Sleep score: 62. You decide it's going to be a foggy day. And then it is. A 2014 Colorado College study suggests the score itself causes the fog. 164 people walked into a lab. Researchers hooked them up to fake EEG equipment and told them the readout would show their REM percentage from the night before. Then they fabricated a number. Half the room was told 28.7%. Half was told 16.2%. The machine wasn't measuring anything. Participants took four cognitive tests. The Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test, where you add numbers spoken at increasing speed and hold your last sum in working memory while computing the next. And the Controlled Oral Word Association Task, where you generate as many words as you can starting with a single letter under time pressure. Both are gold-standard measures of attention and executive function used in clinical neurology. The 28.7% group outperformed the 16.2% group on both. Significantly. How rested participants actually felt that morning predicted nothing. The mechanism is mindset priming an executive resource. When you believe you slept well, you allocate cognitive effort more aggressively. You don't conserve. You don't pre-disengage. Belief about the resource changes how you spend it. Two control conditions ruled out demand characteristics. Participants weren't trying harder because they thought they should. Real measurable cognitive performance shifted with the number on the readout. The Apple Watch sleep score. The Oura ring readiness number. The morning ritual of checking either one is taxing the resource you're about to need. The performance gap from a fabricated REM percentage was larger than the gap from how rested participants actually felt. The number was louder than the night.

Tucker Carlson just gave the most brutally honest marriage advice I’ve ever heard: Don’t say “Whatever you want, babe.” When she asks orange or pink napkins? You confidently say “Pink.” She’ll correct you to orange — then you immediately declare “Orange is perfect” like it was your idea. Same with dinner. She doesn’t want you to hand over every decision. She wants you to lead… while she still feels heard. Tucker’s line: “You’re repeating her choice back to her as a decision.” Raw. Funny. And probably true. A lot of modern relationship advice ignores how men and women actually communicate in real life. Getting this dynamic right can save years of unnecessary fights. I laughed because I’ve seen this exact dance play out. Tucker has zero filter and it’s oddly refreshing. Married or about-to-be-married people — how accurate is this in your experience?

Tony's skull cracked when his head went through the windshield. Surgeons told his parents three times that he would not survive. Now the hospital wants to run a test that, if it confirms brain death, triggers their right to remove life support, and his parents are fighting to stop it. This is not a family denying the severity of what happened. They know Tony is critically injured. What they are refusing to accept is a process where a single confirmatory test hands the hospital the authority to end their son's life, with the parents having little say in what comes next. "It's up to God and Tony," his mother said. "If it's his time to go, it needs to be on him and my God, not a doctor just saying we're pulling the plug because of this test." The family is now in a legal fight with Nassau University Medical Center to prevent that test from being administered without their consent. The questions this case raises about parental rights, informed consent, and who holds decision-making authority over a critically injured patient's life are ones every family deserves to understand before they are ever in this room. This is a heartbreaking story. Please share to raise awareness about what is happening. Full segment linked below 👇

@HighWireTalk Here’s an update. If you can be there for support tomorrow, the family would appreciate it.
Cheryl Samons@cheryl_samons

Update on Tony Gestone… Tony’s uncle sent me a text this morning. If you’re in the area, they could use your support at the hearing tomorrow. From Tony’s uncle: “There is a hearing for my nephew Tony tomorrow at 2pm at Nassau County Supreme Court in Mineola. We could use all the support we can get. Thank you for your continuous prayers. God is listening. 🙏 please share this and repost it in Facebook groups etc. We really could use the whole community’s support. If you can’t make it please say a prayer for him. We had an outside neurologist come and evaluate him yesterday and I think he’ll be giving testimony if they can’t come to an agreement prior. We’re trying to get him transferred, there’s two routine procedures in order to get him transferred. The hospital is refusing to do them. They are basically giving us an ultimatum saying if he takes the brain profusion scan they will do it. So they’re still treating him as brain dead. And we’ve had many experts tell us that these procedures could be done to my nephew Tony. These procedures would make it much easier to transfer him and the hospital is basically blocking it.” ~ Joe Hauser As a reminder, the brain death tests do not show all brain activity, and do not prove the brain is dead. When hospitals do tests that do not detect all brain activity, it allows them to declare brain death, and then they don’t have to continue support or treat the patient like a living person. And they definitely won’t do procedures that are necessary to allow them to be transferred to a facility that will treat them properly. Brain death is a legal term used by the medical community to take vital organs from living people and to clear ICU beds.

🚨Kentucky Representative @RepThomasMassie stood on the steps of the Supreme Court today and named what is actually happening. Bayer is running a four-front war: against the executive branch, state legislatures, Congress, and the courts. The goal is liability immunity, a permanent get out of court free card for a company that has lost hundreds of millions of dollars in cancer verdicts. Massie is not giving it to them. He and Representative Chellie Pingree have introduced the "No Immunity for Glyphosate Act," but as Massie made clear, it should not even be necessary. The Seventh Amendment guarantees the right to a jury trial. The Tenth Amendment reserves powers to the states. The First Amendment protects the right to know what is in a product. None of those have been repealed. All of them are currently in jeopardy. The question before the Supreme Court is whether state judges will be gagged, state juries disbanded, and state courts shuttered, with no plan to hear these cases anywhere else. Massie called it what it is: regulatory capture. The White House chief of staff works for a lobbying firm that took money from Monsanto Bayer, and that conflict is sitting at the center of an executive order the administration is using to shield the company from accountability. The people standing on those steps today are the answer to that. Full clip linked below 👇

STORY TIME When we went in for my daughter's 2 month doctor appointment we discussed vaccines. I had made my own schedule for what I thought was best for my daughter, which included delaying some vaccines and skipping some of the later doses. The schedule I made gives her great coverage against potentially severe outcomes of illnesses while also limiting potentially severe outcomes from overloading her with vaccines. Her doctor agreed with my plan and entered all of the vaccines we wanted and the dates we wanted them, into her chart so nothing would be missed or accidentally given. The doctor left and said the physician assistant would be back to give my daughter the vaccine we wanted for her 2 month visit. We only wanted DTaP at this appointment. The physician's assistant came in and stated that she was giving my daughter the DTaP vaccine. We left and baby girl handled the vaccine well. Fast forward a month later and I had received a call saying our next vaccine appointment was too soon. I messaged the physician assistant letting her know about the call, sent her the vaccine plan we had discussed with the doctor, and asked if we needed to push dates out. The physician's assistant said she would look into it. Later that day she messaged me back saying we were ok to come in as scheduled. She then sent another message saying that instead of just the DTaP vaccine, she gave my daughter a combo shot including Polio and Hep B at her 2 month appointment, which her chart indicated she should not have had the first doses of those vaccines yet. My daughter's chart was marked with every vaccine she should get through 52 weeks old, which dose it was in the series, and the exact dates she should get them. We discussed the vaccine plan that day, before her vaccine. The physician's assistant told us the vaccine she was giving her and did not inform us or ask consent to give her the Hep B or Polio vaccine. I AM LIVID We were planning on doing the Hep B and Polio vaccines at a later date (months later), but giving an infant a vaccine without explicitly stating what the child is getting is careless. In the medical field you should be reviewing your patients chart before giving them anything, you should know exactly what your patient needs & what you are giving them, and you should be getting consent for every specific medication/treatment/procedure you are doing. So, regardless of how much I may be over reacting, I am filing a complaint with the state's medical licensing board because her actions were reckless

Be a part of History! Vani Hari (@TheFoodBabe) and @DelBigtree are calling on everyone who can make it to lace up, bring a sign, and march with thousands in Washington D.C. this Monday, April 27th. Because what's happening right now is not OK. It's not OK for the government to file an amicus brief at the Supreme Court on behalf of Bayer. It's not OK for an executive order to give glyphosate National Defense priority status. It's not OK for the Farm Bill to include pesticide immunity language. It's not OK to delay EPA pesticide reviews by five more years. It's not OK for state legislatures to hand pesticide companies liability shields. As Del put it: "We have to represent ourselves now. The more people that are there, the more powerful statement that we're making." This is a moment that will be remembered. Be part of it. 👉 Sign up at thepeoplevspoison.org 👉 Take action and contact your representatives at the Take Action link on the site 👉 Grab a T-shirt to support the event - all proceeds go toward production costs We will be live-streaming the rally at TheHighWire.com starting at 9am on Monday, April 27th. Be there!
