There have been so many coaches who blazed a path in the Pittsburgh area that we have taken advantage of. Lanny Van Eman, Tim Grgurich, Buzz Ridl, Eddie Biedenbach, Ed McCluskey, Mel Hankinson, Ron Galbreath and others. The one that may be under the radar was Bill Shay. All of us had great respect for a kind man and terrific basketball coach! I went over today to see that statue erected in his honor at Allegheny CC.
