A decade ago MBAs started going out of style. The labour market was rewarding workers with hard technical skills, especially coding skills. With the AI advancements of the past couple years though, it wouldn’t surprise me if we get a full rotation back. Hard skills are slowly being commoditized and at everyone’s fingertips. That may increase the importance of strong networking, understanding organizational behavior, developing negotiation skills, being multicultural, and identifying cross disciplinary opportunities. The modern MBA should also be less like the McKinsey consultant factories of the past, and more the training ground for competent managers and entrepreneurs. Ideally adding classes on how to use AI tools to make companies for efficient, the private equity sector could benefit also. Ultimately as I’ve said before, what we need is more people with strong judgement (or good ‘taste’ as Anthropic’s @jackclarkSF put it).

The day this nigga, admittedly, shed heavy tears and cozied up in the arms of his wife AFTER BEING TURBO LIQUIDATED FOR EVERYTHING [100 Million Dollars], It was over. She saw him as a fragile unstable baby, Someone who could no longer provide for her, MUCH LESS PROTECT HER. Imaginary numbers on a computer screen could BREAK HIM. WEAK. The roles reversed. SHE BECAME HIS GUARDIAN. SHE BECAME THE ONE HE WENT TO WHEN THINGS GOT TOO TOUGH. He put her in a masculine frame and unfortunately, after that, it is irreparable life-long damage. Yeah like the comment below. You're looking at a linear chart and mistaking the natural curve of compounding for a parabola. If you switch to a log scale, which a long term secular chart like this needs to be viewed through, there is no parabola, and a real parabola is one that would break away from a log chart trendline. A steady 10% growth a year on average looks like a parabola on linear because a 10% move from 1,000 is 100 points; a 10% move from 5,000 is 500 points, etc.

I see this said so often… First, the SPX is not parabolic, this is just an illusion. Second, it is an Index, aka It is a self-cleansing basket of the 500 most successful companies in the US. It "grows" because the global economy grows, inflation exists, and failing companies are replaced by winners that explode.

I never heard this until today but I think it is a really useful analogy. I think the original author was the CEO of Coca Cola. Imagine life as a game in which you’re juggling five balls in the air. These balls represent the core elements of your life: Work, Family, Health, Friends, and Spirit. Here’s the insight: Work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. You can recover. You can find another job, rebuild a business, or restart a project. But the other four balls: Family, Health, Friends, and Spirit, are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, cracked, or even shattered. Some damage simply can’t be undone. The analogy cuts through the noise of hustle culture by forcing a simple question: Which balls are you treating as rubber when they’re actually glass? Many people invert the priority, they treat work like glass (terrified to drop it, sacrificing everything to keep it aloft) while treating health, relationships, and inner peace like rubber, assuming they’ll always bounce back. The reality is often the opposite. Careers are more resilient than we think; bodies, relationships, and peace of mind are more fragile. I think it’s a useful mental model, especially for some people here chasing a dream in markets. The markets will always be there tomorrow, but many of the glass balls won’t last forever.
