I'm Appalachian to the core, but educated & raised by sales people & politicians. Changing your accent is natural as breathing in these contexts.

@drantbradley I suspect a certain demographic believes "code switching" is a made-up liberal conspiracy. The same demographic that wants to keep cultural competency out of schools and never studied a foreign language (where I first learned about code switch).

Ian has never had a black friend. This is what we all do. My preaching in a traditional black church is the exact opposite of my style in a white evangelical church. Not even close. Code-switch is the double-consciousness skill we’ve all had to learn. Do whites not know this?
